The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Maybe, they should let Steven Chow do The Green Hornet. mhihi: :manybeers:

Stupid jokes aside, I like Chow, but I don't think that I've ever watched anything from him that wasn't over the top. Flash should be more upbeat, but certainly not over the top to include an opening scene with Captain Cold and his goons dancing up a storm. Then again, something could be had with such a scene. ;)

What I really want is a good Wonder Woman movie, but dammit, I don't think that's happening. :(

I loved Kung Fu Hustle (audible gasp) and I love that "thinking outside the box" attitude you're going with... there are just somethings I can't see the light on. My inner Nay is just too strong on this one.

well...yeah. I don't see Dc/Wb going out on a limb like this, but the more I think about it the more I want it. It would be brilliant. And yes Orph, Chow would have to reel in some of his more artistic flourishes...although a Captain Cold song'n'dance might be pretty goddamned wtf/epic. And you scoff but c'mon...he's the scarlet speedster. With Cold, Cap'n Boomerang, Mirror Master, Gorilla freaking Grodd among his nemeses...if there is going to be one lighthearted/quippy/fun character amongst the JLA, Flash is the one.

Chow can tone it down when he wants/needs to. Am I the only person who bothered to watch CJ7? Probably.

I've never really read much Flash, so I don't have much of an opinion either way, but I agree that they had better get it done right if they're going to do it. It just seems like such a hard character to adapt to live action...

Haha! :D

Being Grant Morrison: From "HAPPY!" To MorrisonCon & Beyond - Comic Book Resources

The "Action Comics" run concludes with issue #16, "Batman Incorporated" wraps up my take with issue #12, and after that I don’t have any plans for monthly superhero books for a while. "Multiversity" is eight issues and I’m 30-odd pages into a Wonder Woman project but those are finite stories.

I'm not saying that I'll never write superheroes again. It's just that my relationship to them has changed especially after finishing the book and I’m not sure if I want to maintain the same kind of relentless level of production.

I think I've kind of worked through everything I’ve ever felt about these characters. It was a bit like going to the psychiatrist and lying on the couch for just long enough to realize "What was I thinking?" [Laughs] I don't know. I know there are plenty of different ways to use them, but right now I feel like I'm coming to the end of a long intensive period where I was talking about certain ideas using the language of superheroes, if that makes any sense. I want to try out some new ideas and explore the opportunities that keep coming up to write novels and screenplays.

Comic Review: The Bionic Man #10 | Geeks of Doom

The Bionic Man #10 is the epic conclusion to the first arc of the series!! And believe me, it sure lives up to the hype. Ten issues building up to this one and you are NOT gonna be disappointed at all.

Writers Kevin Smith and Phil Hester bring everything full circle in this issue. Steve Austin faces off against the enemy he was destined to ever since issue one. While I won’t go into spoilers, it’s one hell of a knock-down drag-out fight. I really wish that this HAD been made into a movie, because seeing it on the big screen would be simply breathtaking. Like I said, Smith and Hester manage to bring everything full circle, and I mean EVERYTHING. At the end of the issue, all the storylines have been resolved, and they set up a new, surprising, status quo for Colonel Steve Austin. They send the book off in a brand new direction that should be, frankly, awesome. It’s been one heck of a ride getting to this point, but I can only see this book getting better now that the origin story is done and out of the way.

anyone(Adgy) reading this. Sounds good. And you know I loves me some Kevin Smith. TPB here I come.

Hey Adge, did you know Layman(CHEW) and McCrea(ummmmm...all great ****) were doing a Mars Attacks book? Just read in fango...may already be on the stands, that's a must have for sure!

I did, but I haven't seen the issues anywhere. So I'm just going to wait for the trade, I guess.

Layman will be taking over Detective Comics in a few months, as well.
