Ed Brubaker And Sean Phillips’ Kill Or Be Killed Announced At #ImageExpo (UPDATE)

About a man becomes a vigilante who kills bad people – but this comic looks more at the ripple effect for him and his family and friends as a result of that decision. It’s a “soap opera about murder” and its their take on the Deathwish/Punisher formula with a man who is very angry about the world.”

A whole ****load of awesome sounding projects announced at Image Expo this year, but this one is the most exciting.

TOLDJA: Gerard Way’s Imprint At DC Comics, Young Animal – And It Will Stay In Continuity With DC Rebirth!

Turning up at the DC Entertainment panel at ECCC, Gerard Way announced his new mature readers imprint would be called Young Animal. And it will stay in continuity wit the rest of the DC Universe.

And the first book? Doom Patrol... though no longer with Becky Cloonan, but with Nick Derington in September.

My take is a brand-new take. I would say, to me- it feels like a cross between, kind of the super strange things that were going on around the time of Grant Morrison and Rachel Pollack, and then it has a lot of the spirit of the original series from the Sixties. It also has this indie kind of feel like Love and Rockets. Love and Rockets is a big influence.

No Becky Cloonan = wait for trade, but...

He will also be curating a number of other books. Shade, The Changing Girl by Cecil Castellucci and Marley Zarcone, (with covers by Becky Cloonan) which remains within the paradigm of the Peter Milligan Shade series, with the Madness Vest.

That's one to buy monthly.

A Few Details About Those Sandman Spinoff Books Coming From DC Vertigo – And The Gossip Behind Them

I’m currently hearing from Seattle bar gossip about two “anthology” books, that have solicited independent story arcs from a number of creators, along the fashion of the old Dreaming comic.

One of those books will focus on a new House joining the House Of Secrets and the House Of Mystery in the Dreaming and generating new stories from that. I am told, however, that it has been forbidden for Dream, the Sandman, Morpheus or Daniel, to appear in the comic.

Even though one of the books revolves around something rather major and un-ignorable happening to the Dreaming…

More from the new line, hopefully this weekend.
