The Mess in the West

Turned into a pretty competitive game. Hoffman hits the metal with a minute left. Damn.

I'm glad Vegas is having as many defensive breakdowns as the Kings do. They gave up a few in the slot shots that Quick had to make saves on. At least the Kings held them to 21 shots. Makes me feel a bit better.

3 goals in 58 secs, what game were you watching?

Probably the Vegas game. The Knights annoucers made a joke about the PA annoucer calling out the 4-1 goal when the score had already changed to 4-3.

I'm bummed that he's giving up all these 3rd period goals. I wanted Vegas to think Quick still had it when those of us who actually watch hockey know father time has taken his toll.

Did you see where the goals came from? A complete breakdown in front of the net for the third goal. A top shelf shot after a turnover which was perfect. So yes he got beat but Vegas defense broke down and Cassidy lit them up. 3 goals on 28 shots.

Yes, this. I was literally quoting the Vegas announcers.

It was like 8 minutes after the Vegas goal, I thought he was announcing the Montreal goals, however he was a bit too excited for an opposing team goal.

Quick looking pretty good in his first period as a Golden Knight. Not tested too much but a couple nice saves. Their broadcast is talking about him like he’s a legend and a blue chip deadline acquisition, not like a washed up salary dump. So weird.

Looking great. One more period for a shut out. Some here thought he was washed up, too funny.

He is playing behind a better defense than the Kings against the 26th ranked Canadiens. Today's game is not proof that he is or is not washed up.

Lol. 3 goals in :58.

Oh man the reading of these back to back a few days after is gold! From the Vegas announcers thinking he is Blue chip and not a salary dump, to a Kings fan thinking ha, losers, see he still has it and now a better defense has cured him, to JQ going JQ and not being able to put a full game together, to the Kings fans thinking well JQ almost fooled them and got more starts which would help the LAK win the division...as I was reading a few other threads I was reminded of his last 3 wins with the Kings and how he was barely able to hang on to those wins with great effort from the team around him...

Seeing what happened in Vegas in his first game reinforces that it was the right time to move on. I will always be grateful to JQ for what he gave the Kings, but I just do not see how any team with a real shot at winning a Cup would put him between the pipes at a crucial time...

Also if the Kings D has break downs and the Vegas D has break downs and pucks end up in the net, but they are both vying for #1 in the Pacific and they both have other goaltenders with better save % and W-L records, would it not stand to reason that all teams will have defensive breakdowns and part of the responsibility of the goalie is to take care of those break downs? especially when those same defenses likely break down and other goalies make those stops?

Watching Florida go up 2-0 over Vegas in the 2nd period. Panthers are playing for their playoff lives. They seem to have more incentive to win tonight.

Go Panthers Go!

Big win Bob. Vegas was as hot as the Kings recently so it is good to see them take the L.

So wide open!

Now Vegas goes to Tampa and Carolina. Maybe they go 1-1. But no 3-point games, please.

Another Vegas loss on that road trip would make a potential Kings loss in Denver less stressful for us.

Who cares if it's a 3-point game since TB and Car in the other conference. It's intra Pacific division games (e.g. Oilers - Knights) that we want to not be three-pointers if at all possible.

If Vegas loses either or both games, it would be best case that they lose in regulation.

Just now, Boomer Gordon made his playoff predictions for the Western Conference. Typically, he disrespected the Kings and picked them as Wildcard #1 after finishing 4th in the Pacific. His predicted matchup was vs. Seattle after winning the Pacific. He and Jake are still in love with Edmonton too.

Grrrrr... no love for our guys at all...

I consistently change the station on that dude when he starts ..

Vegas up 3-1 over TB, 10 player brawl with 6 left in the 3rd

Krackheads lose to Ottawa, least likely loss of the night but we’ll take it

Agreed, but Ottawa is a little surprising. They actually have a winning record and are in the hunt for a playoff spot, albeit on the outside. But definitely a pleasant surprise.
