The Mess in the West

Need a Carolina win vs Vegas. 1-0 Vegas after 1. Quick going for his third straight win.

It's going to come down to head to head with EDM & Vegas for the division.
Vegas plays a stingy game and JQ looks comfortable.
EDM went ultra physical to make up for lack of depth but goaltending will be their undoing.
SEA is still a threat.
CGY is done.

Quick just shut out the Hurricanes with 34 saves. This is getting interesting. Or painful.

Quick rediscovering his game is even more reason that Blake had to deal him. He said he wants to keep playing after this season. He wasn't going to retire a King and at this point there really shouldn't be any hard feelings. He's in a better situation and so are the Kings.

We can all keep telling ourselves these things and I will try…. But if we play them in the playoffs, I have a feeling the amount of understanding we all have for Blake’s decision may dramatically decrease.

I know it's only been 3 games, but it becoming evident that the Kings had failed Quick on every level. There is no reason Quick could not be successful for the Kings for the rest of this season and beyond.

How did the Kings fail Quick? He had the reigns, started the season, played his regular amount of games and his save percentage was below .900 and was not winning any games, Then they gave Peterson a shot and that didn't work. Copely comes in and he makes the saves and the Kings start winning. It is the same team in front of Copely that was in front of Quick. The problem i think is that Quick for some reason lost his confidence, he was letting shots in that normally he would save and the team became uncomfortable with him in net. In 3 games with Vegas, yes Quick has been good but time will tell how he plays with them. I wish Quick the best but fact is, his best is behind him. There is a good chance that the Kings and Knights meet in the playoffs and I hope that the Kings beat them.

Still a long way to go but if Quick has found his game then you have to admit our organization is mis-managing or just not understanding their goalies. We all know why Quick is playing great - he’s pissed. But if those performances were in him, it was up to our coaches to get them out of him. I get why they didn’t - he’s a legend, leave him alone and he will figure it out. At the end of the day though - we signed the wrong goalie to a silly contract and potentially let someone who could hurt us badly in the playoffs go. I like what we have now, but this definitely has the potential to bite us.

^^^This x1000. Quick sucked. Pure and simple. He was terrible. Awful save percentage. Blowing games regularly in the 3rd period. GSAA in the bottom 5 of the NHL. Getting beat over the shoulder time and time again. If Blake and Todd had stuck with Quick instead of Copley, we'd be outside of the playoffs right now. If any party failed the other, it was Quick who failed the Kings. I'm glad he's playing well with Vegas but lets be honest about his stats and the wins.
Anaheim win - collected Copley's win by giving up extra goals in the 3rd.
Arizona win - Kings bailed out his 3rd period failure
Montreal win - held on for 4-3 win
Tampa win - blew another late lead, win in OT
Carolina win - nice shutout

It is great to see Quick catching up to Vanbiesbrouck for most wins, but I don't miss his 0.370 quality start percentage in LA.

Well, darn it. The Blues are not helping us out. Vegas up 3-1 in the second.

Illegal_Stick answered it perfectly. It's the organizations jobs to get the best out of each one of their players.

Quick's best days are behind him. I don't buy the organization failed him, in reality Quick failed the organization because he had full reign of the net. Ranford is a top quality goalie coach, he was the one that got Quick to where he was at and to say that with the length of time that he didn't understand or could get Quick to play his best is nonsense. Ranford had Quick playing his best since 2012 season and now all of a sudden couldn't. Ranford has Copely playing beyond his capabilities. The change of scenery has motivated Quick to play better but will he be able to keep it at that level, we shall soon find out. It is no different than being fired and then getting a new job. You want to prove your previous employer wrong.
