The other teams thread

First time a team won the Cup twice in a row in back-to-back years since the 20-21 Lightning. Well, the Panthers can now officially join that company.
Yup...that's 5 cups in 5 seasons between three 'non-traditional' environments with 'no hockey culture'. Just like LA right? I think we can safely put that tired misnomer to bed don't you?

Panthers spent more time (255:49) leading in this SCF than any team in history. In six games. Oilers got rocked.

EDM has a storied history, but in terms of this millennium, I’d much rather have lost four straight first-round series to them and won our two SCFs than vice versa.

Cat sound.

Remember that GIF of him crying while he was in the penalty box during Round 2 of the 2014 WC playoffs (even though it was a droplet of water sleuthing down the pane to make it appear that he shed a tear)? Gotta find that clip, it's a classic.

Well, this is the closest I can find for it but here it is. For some reason, Giphy doesn't actually have this GIF of him in their site but Tenor does.

In other SPORTS news… Mark Walter the Dodgers owner just purchased the Lakers for $10B. Any chance his group eventually buys the Kings? You’d think he’d want to own the arena the Lakers play in as well, and the quickest way to that just might be buying the team that actually owns it 😉

(PLUS he’s a key investor in the PWHL, so he does have a vested interest in hockey.)

Any adult human being who roots for a team with Evander Kane, Darnell Nurse and Corey Perry deserves every bit of pain they’re feeling.
I would sure like to know what happened after the Oilers meltdown game. After the debacle with Kane, Walman, etc the Oilers seemed to get away from their game. There was fewer nonsense between whistles, less begging for calls, and it was (at least to me) really noticeable.
Did Bettman have a serious conversation with their organization?

This is true, but Holland did not leave enough cap space to save those RFA's.
This….plus he’s left the Oilers’ handcuffed with an unusually large number of players on No Trade/No Movement clauses. Bowman would probably love to unload the 9mil he pays to a 2nd pair defender, but Nurse holds all the cards

Very good deal for the Kraken.

Looks like we’re gonna have a lot of trade activity before the draft.
Great deal. Gritty scorer with size. I hate it.

Toews signing with Winnipeg.
Probably not even funny, but it still is to me. Just feels like they’re openly saying “We choke in the playoffs. Teach us, Captain Serious.”

I love both deals. I was hoping the Kings would try to get Marchment out of Dallas. He blossomed in FL and is the kind of large player that we could use more of. That sucks that he ended up in the Kings division.

Toews to Winnipeg just makes sense. They are close. He grew up there. And I 100% think that the Toews work ethic being in that locker room will further improve their play and focus.

Both moves feel like low risk with potential for high reward and a floor of low reward for both. I don't see how either team can lose.

Yeah I hate the Kraken deal because it’s one of those where you say “that’s all it took?” It’s not too far off from what Blake spent to get Jeannot.

I agree Toews is low risk. It will be interesting to see how he plays and if he’s got anything left.

It's interesting that Toews incentives are all based on the number of games played - this tells me the Jets might not be expecting too much out of him other than locker room presence / on ice leadership.

I saw that too. And if gets to the point that he’s not playing in the playoffs but he’s offering moral support than he’s like a locker room mascot. I get that Quick made a difference in Vegas in that role but it’s different when you’re a goalie.
