The other teams thread

Yeah I hate the Kraken deal because it’s one of those where you say “that’s all it took?” It’s not too far off from what Blake spent to get Jeannot.

I agree Toews is low risk. It will be interesting to see how he plays and if he’s got anything left.
Seems like he's just there to fill that Laine antics/clickbait void in Winnipeg.

IMO, couldn't be further from the truth. There's a reason Toews' nickname was Captain Serious. The Hawks would be practicing on Thanksgiving when Toews was captaining the team and they'd be on their circus road trip. Even if he can't bring it on the ice like 5+ years ago, I'd still want Toews in the locker room to further establish a culture of hard work and accountability.

I was a Toews fan when he was winning gold for the Canadian Juniors but his stance with the Kyle Beach assaults forever tarnished my view of him. He was the captain of that team and took a very defensive approach to the matter .... the opposite of accountability.

Zegras traded from Anaheim to Philly for Ryan Poehling, the No. 45 pick in the 2025 draft and a 2026 fourth-round pick
Ha. Had to get Torts out of there before this trade could go down.

Honestly not familiar with Poehling. I know the name, but looking at his stats he doesn’t really hit much, especially for someone his size. Puts up middling offense. I guess he’s a third line center alright. Zegras’ stock dropped.

Ducks have a ton, I mean a ton of cap space. Watch them come in an throw 15M at Marner.

I expect them to. With how their second half of the season went, Q as coach (even though it’s poor ethics), and so much space to makes moves, they should be an early pick for a team outside the playoffs to make it in.

Kinda curious why the majority of people give Q an immoral sticker but Toews a free pass. Hard to believe neither knew at least something was going on during the time.

Why on earth would Canucks help out Edmonton like this!!!! Let them drown in their own mess or at least let them pay sh*tloads to get out of it…
But if you think a 4th round pick for a middle-6 guy who can score and agitate is a good deal, then you trade for Kane. At 5 mil a season, he is a decent value if healthy and overpaid if he's injured/in decline.

As a separate hockey deal I know it’s not a bad deal for the Nucks. But since Edmonton is one of their biggest rivals I just don’t see understand why they’re helping them like this.

At least force Edmonton to pay them big time to take Kane, his massive bagage and the cap hit Edmonton simply must get out off…

Oh I agree with you!!! I'm just trying to think like the Vancouver GM.

I mean if I had a team with major locker room issues in terms of personality and character, I would be totally looking to add Evander Kane to the mix and make that room to completely nuclear. /s

As a Kings fan, it should be fun to watch (aside from the helping Edmonton part).

Yeah, kinda dumb unless they are sending something else there way as part of another deal. Arvidson apparently being traded somewhere.

It is funny listening to some of the pundits talking about this trade. They try to sell how good of a deal it is for the Canucks as they sell the type of player Kane was, or possibly can be. Then, they turn around and say the Oilers made the trade because they need get a top 6 forward that is the exact type of player as Kane was, or possibly can be. So, if Kane is no longer "that" Kane, why is it such a good move for the Canucks?

I may just purchase the NHL Center Ice package next year just to watch the EDM/VAN games because of this.
