The other teams thread

First of all...I'd probably use the word 'overblown' to describe your reaction to my rather simple post. Second...I appreciate your appreciation for my 'passion and interest' but not sure how it applied to what I said (and I didn't ask). Third...if you watched the game last night and didn't feel like 'statements' were being made on both sides then we were watching a different game. Lastly...if you have been following this team...'passionately'...as long as I have than you know nothing is ever certain. A win last night by Edmonton (with a depleted roster) would have been potentially DEVESTATING for the Kings. Suddenly they are tied in points with two games left and all the wind taken out of their sails. Far stranger things have happened to this club over the years than losing out the last 3 games and ending up in Edmonton for games 1 and 2.

Overblown? Nah. But thanks for the breakdown.

Great win and I hope QB is ok.
I’m not on here to argue with anyone. But I can see how I may have chosen my words more carefully. I apologize if I was being inappropriate.

I think a lot of us Kings fans have a severe dislike (putting it mildly) for Edmonton. It’s not just the rivalry, or that they have owned the Kings in the playoffs.
It’s the style Edmonton plays, the treatment McDavid receives, their homer fans, etc.
We are all emotional about this matchup. We care, we are hoping to get a different result this year.

I do appreciate passion in life. I had the sense that you are passionate about this team. That is what lead me to make the statement about appreciating your passion. I certainly did not mean anything negative.

I honestly did not know what to expect from Edmonton last night. I thought the Kings would show up and play a solid game. I admit to be surprised at how ridiculous the Oilers performed.

My mistake was believing that the Edmonton organization had more respect for the game of hockey than they apparently have. And they their coach would be more responsible.

Not inappropriate and obviously you may have hit the nail on the head. I'm at times a bit too passionate. lol.

As for Edmonton's behavior and the subsequent comments from their fanbase...I can only say it's an embarrassment to the league and to the sport...one that in general pride's itself on sportsmanship. I mean they have specific trophy awarded to essentially the 'nicest' guy in the league. It's important. That was disgusting last night.

I agree. Talk about mixed messages!
I think my main issue with last night is of course Nurse, who has history of being a dirty player, but more on the Coach. A team is a reflection of the coach. NHL should send a strong message but they repeatedly fail to do so.

The NHL is definitely seems to be going the wrong way these days when it comes to sportsmanship. I feel a lot of it has to do with how weak the disciplinary committee is and how much the NHL wants to build the drama in order to boost ratings.

Hockey has definitely become a business these days first and foremost.

It does look that way yes....but Edmonton in particular seems to have this culture of 'thuggery'. Dirty play is just part of their identity and they have a roster that has bought into it (and a coach who obviously fosters it based on last nights circus.) Guys like Nurse and Kane are clear examples but even McDavid....the 'face' of the league...has had more than his share of questionable moments and...this is just my personal opinion...he comes across as a bit of an a-hole frankly. Generational talent obviously but I'll take Kopitar's character and general demeanor any day over this dude. (and the two cups that come with him.)

Well, that's all she wrote for Cow-gry's playoff chances. They're now officially eliminated from making it to the WC postseason this year, now that St. Louis and Minnesota locked up their wild card spots. Too bad for Cow-gry; better luck next season.

The Dubois-Keumper trade was a big win for both teams.
Lately Darcy has put the Kings on his back. Last 10 games he's 8-2 with a 1.54GAA.
And PLD has 2G and 1A in his last 10 with a minus-9. Rounding into form?

Yep, at least CBJ still has a pulse. However, I can't see Carolina going balls out against the Habs.

Was thinking that also. Know should at least get a fine for repeat offenders for dirty plays

Come to think of it...HC should serve the same suspension as the offending player is if he's a repeat, or maybe threepeat offender, because clearly there is an issue with team's key staff allowing such behavior by their players...

Most boring broadcast ever of a Stanley Cup game. The play by play is terrible and the commentator sounds like (if you can hear her) she's covering a chess match.

The Jets now have a 2-0 series lead against the Blues as the final score in Game 2 was 2-1 Winnipeg. St. Louis isn't looking so hot right now.
