I think Oilers almost coming back but still losing makes it even sweeter. There is a lot of heart break. They were so cocky after game 6. Lol.

Losing team having the MVP is still stupid in my opinion. Its sports writers being too clever. Marty had seven shutouts and still lost.

Yes it does.
F. the Oil!!

What a truly pathetic behavior and he should be ashamed of himself for disrespecting and putting himself before that tradition!

He most likely will not since he himself probably believe in the McJesus and that he’s the ”saviour of the game” hype, but he really should be ashamed…

I know some people said he did not accept it since he didn’t want to steal the spotlight from the Panthers, but that smells bullcrap to me…
I'm not a McDavid fan but there is no way he could be expected to come out to receive the award under such circumstances. It really would be just adding insult to injury.

Bettman should have done the right thing and given it to a Panther. McDavid is now cursed to never touch the Stanley Cup (which I sadly take enjoyment in).

I’ll give him that it really is a stupid thing to give it to a member of the losing team. No one would enjoy that moment, not the winner of the trophy, not the winning team and not their fans.

So yes, change the description of the award so it goes to the best player on the SC winning team.

But since it’s not the case right now, I still think he should have sucked it up and like a true captain accepted the award! Because it is when you have lost, a true captain shows what he’s made of!

Yup.

Losing in the Finals in any sport hurts. Bad. I still remember the Dodgers and Rams, and yes the Kings, coming so close...but this has to be particularly painful for the Oilers fans. Coming back down 0-3 and taking it to seven games...then losing by one goal. Ouch. And they were so confident. Tee hee. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of scumbags.

And even though it kinda sucked losing three in a row and being stressed out, we did get to see some extra hockey, and that's always a good thing.

But seeing McJesus bent over the boards in disbelief after the final horn was priceless and worth the wait. Florida did such a great job of taking away time and space and being physical with him. Their gameplan worked to perfection. Florida outhit the Oilers 30-19, and many of those hits were on McDickhead.

But the absolutely best part is the fact we don't have to spend an entire offseason hearing about McDouche and The Comeback.

Thank you God!

Strange voting for Conn Smythe.looks like they wouldn't give it to Bobrovskiy in any way .
I think they got it right this time. Bob gave up 18 goals across 3 games, no way he was going to win it despite having a great game 7. Skinner probably played better overall in the series as much as it pains me to give any Oils a kudos.

McDavid was scoreless in game 6 and 7.I get that he got especially on assists like historic numbers, but still.
And Bob didn't gave up 18 goals,3 or 4 were empty netters and Stolarz allowed some after Bobrovsky was pulled i think when score was 5-1

I stand corrected...but, he did get pulled from a game which I didn't even mention. Still don't have a problem McD getting the award IF it goes to the best player across the playoffs. That being said, I'd only ever give it to someone on the winning team if I had any say in the rules.
