Power Forward remains the most desirable player type in modern NHL history.

From TSN:
The Toronto Maple Leafs are finalizing a six-year, $46.5 million contract extension with restricted free agent forward Matthew Knies, TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports.

The deal holds an average annual value of $7.75 million per season.

Knies, 22, had a career season in 2024-25, recording 29 goals and 58 points in 78 games with the Maple Leafs. He added five goals and seven points in 13 playoff games before his team was eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the second round.

And that's why I have a really huge infatuation of them since the league tends to flip-flop about the debate concerning speed and skill versus size and grit. Though we still have modern power forwards like Tom Wilson, M.Tkachuk, and Bennett tearing up the league, we won't be seeing any throwback types of the pre-2010s power forwards that were a lot more menacing and dominant back in their day like Lindros, Shanahan, and Clark. But a do-it-all power forward like Gordie Howe is very rare and a generational talent that is hugely coveted by any team. Which is why I really wanted Holland to draft at least one PF to strengthen our team. Too bad Holland had other ideas.

Well, at least Blake drafted Greentree, if that's any consolation.

They finally trade Gibson…for a goalie?

Verbeek has edibles for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I don't know if it's a bad trade on Anaheim's part or Gibson's value has really diminished. First of all I think he's the most overrated goalie of the last 10 years, ever since he had a few good games against the Kings in 2014. But over the last few years every time they've tried to trade him he's gotten hurt. And as of right now Dostal is a better goalie for Anaheim. So I don't know, maybe Mrazek is the best they could get for him now. It certainly wouldn't have been 2 years ago.

Marner watch continues .... have yet to do the math on what this may save Vegas ($).

Edit: Vegas actually loses about $1.135 million in immediate cap space. 🤔
Combined 4.8 cap hit for two players vs. 5.5 NSH extended Hague for. I think the 1.135 loss is based on what Hague made last season.

Smart move. Hague is still the best player, but Lauzon hits everything. I absolutely hated him when Kings played Preds this year. He was relentless.

VGK won the Cup with Amadio on the team. I’m sure Sissions will fare well under Cassidy as the Knights’ fourth line center.
