The Pacific Division Thread

The Kings and Winnipeg have the same amount of wins. This will be a battle down the stretch to see who has more wins at seasons end.

Gudas receiving only a 5-game suspension should tell us all we need to know about the current state of the NHL DoPS under Parros. How he's still head of that organization is something only Bettman will answer.
He is head of DoPS because he does what Bettman wants him to do. He will be gone the minute he doesn't. He is just a convenient scapegoat for the fans. The buck doesn't stop with him.

The thing with Parros is that he's too lenient in handing out punishments towards players who've committed infractions that are legitimately serious enough to warrant more than simple 5-game suspensions. From botching the handling of the Tom Wilson incident from six years ago to Darnell Nurse receiving only a one-game suspension after that cheap cross-check to the head of QB last season, Parros doesn't effectively know how to respond to these type of incidents the way a proper head of the DoPS should do. The DoPS under Shanahan was more effective in handing out punishments towards offending players than Parros.

Remember when players like Hunter and B.Marchment were slapped with 20-game suspensions because their offenses were that outright dangerous towards the victims they preyed upon? Yeah, the league was much harsher with those punishments back then despite the rules being different at the time.

With the Kings win tonight vs the Rangers, they are ties with the Kraken with 71 points, but cause the Kraken has the tie breaker with a game in hand and more wins,as of now the Kings are on the outside looking in at the WC2 spot and only 3 points out of the WC1 spot. The Kings though are only 4 points out of third place,5 points second place and only 6 points out of first place as of Monday 3/16/26.

Thanks for posting these updates.

The thing is, as close as the Kings are to being in the top 3 in the pacific they are at a similar distance from being 4 spots out of a wild card spot.

I never thought the Pacific division would be so weak this season. Is it a lack of goaltending or young teams trying to breakthrough? The Kings have the same amount of wins as the Rangers do and they are in last place. The Ducks are in first but have given up more goals than they have scored. Has there ever been a team that leads their division done that? Pitt has the same amount of OT losses as the Kings at 15 but has 34 wins.

Yeah, the Ducks are leading the Pacific with 77 points, all other division leaders are at 90+ points.

I think Vegas would be running away with the division but they have had goaltending and health issues most of the year. I think it is a combo of health/goaltending/youth/suckage. :) Like you said, overall just a very weak division.

Not a single team in the Pacific would qualify for the playoffs if they were in the Eastern conference.
