A hot goalie, very decent offensive form and no 3-on-3 OT improves the Kings' chances dramatically lol.
 
I still think it’s too funny the Kings made the playoffs at all to be gloomy about their likely loss. But let’s be real. SJ, SEA, StL, WPG and especially NSH all had ample opportunity to pass the Kings and none of them did. And none of those teams except for San Jose are screaming “bright future” at the moment either.

I always have a feeling of renewed optimism when the Kings make the playoffs. Can the Kings beat the Avs? It won't be easy, but anything can happen when the playoffs start. It's a whole new season.

All I know is the Kings got hot at the right time. And we have a hot goalie.

I've never been a Pollyanna, but I don't see any reasons why we can't be compettive, and maybe even steal a series or two.
 
I am hoping the Kings play the Avs in the first round. We will see if the Kings are built for the playoffs, facing off with the best team in the NHL. Let's go! Winning one round at this point after not getting past the first round for the past four years will be anticlimactic. The Kings need to play for the cup, or this year has been a bust. No more "one day," they have to look at it as Day 1. Play like a champion.

Man you said it. Hot now, hot goalie. If there’s any time for a clean slate, why not the playoffs. There’s an first round upset every year and they have to win a series eventually, right?

I definitely don’t have the same expectations as last season where it felt like it really was their time to advance. Now i am just ready to watch whatever the hell it is we’re about to watch. Could be an adventure!

With the Kings biggest weakness being 3v3 and shootouts, I think they project to be a much better playoff team than most are projecting.

Presidents Cup winners have seen some disappointments in the first round, and Vancouver in ‘12 comes to mind
 
In a weird way this might work out for us. There is absolutely ZERO pressure on LA as nobody expects them to do anything. If we were to play the Avs or Oilers, all the pressure is on them. Including the Presidents cup curse...so yea, there's always a chance.

The West is extremely top heavy this season. I don’t expect many upsets on this side of the playoff bracket.
 
Now that the Kings regular painful season has finally ended with Kings in the WC2 and they get the Avs in the 1st round,how many games will the Kings win vs the Avs?.

Bring on the Avs then. Come on, Jings, exorcise your 1st round demons and send Colorado packing. This is going to be a rematch of the early 00s meetings between these two, only this time without Blake.
 
When I read the last text from my buddy this morning "Anybody but the Avs" I had a gut feeling we'd be playing Colorado.

I was praying for the Ducks but I knew it was a long shot.

To be honest I'm having a hard time visualizing the Kings outscoring the Avalanche. I'll be surprised if we win one game.

Having wrote that, Colorado is not invincible and anything's possible. But the fact is it's gonna be Miracle Level to get to the second round.
