I'm pretty spoiled to have a Total Wine within 5 minutes here in Rancho Cucamonga. I don't get around to craft beer as much as I used to - the budget has changed with 2 growing kids and trying to keep up with all the brews is overwhelming considering the boom in microbrewing over the last few years. I probably drink more cheap stuff than I do craft anymore, but I make a Total Wine trip about once a month to redeem myself. I don't really hunt down anything too obscure, but more or less try to snag freshly bottled IPAs. I've really been digging Stone's enjoy by's series.

These days I'm taking anything freshly bottled > something rare. There's also a little brewery here in Rancho called No clue that is pretty decent, same with Rok House in Upland with Dale Bros up the street from there. When I lived in La Verne I was down at the Bruery all the time, but not so much since having moved to Rancho. If I'm in the area on business I'll have my growler handy and get a nice fill.

In my experience the prices and selection tends to be better at Total Wine compared to Bevmo. However I will echo that sometimes I find gems at Bevmo that I would not expect to find there and don't seem to be at other shops.
 
Picked up a growler yesterday afternoon at Old Stump in Pomona (nice location too - it's not ghetto pomona but more of where la verne/pomona & claremont meet).

Pretty impressed! Got to sample a few as well. The Chocolate stout was excellent and I'll probably get a growler fill of the Milk Stout next visit.

I'll keep an eye out for this one - I absolutely love the subtle characters of rye beers. I tried an IPA from Barley Forge (think it was called behind the curtain) - not terribly impressed but wanted to try it since they are local.
 
You guys out west get Leinenkugels? Or is strictly an east coast micro?
They're Snow Drift Vanilla Porter is the f-ing bomb...for you Stout/Porter drinkers.

I'm wondering what beers they are referring to when they talk about the calorie/carb content. While it was true of Guinness (because I remember it being lower in ABV than the standard domestics) being healthier than people assumed, I have a very hard time believing the average DIPA or imperial stout measures low in carbs or calories. If they are talking in relation to Bud light or Budweiser, sure, it may be healthier than anticipated. But what does that have to do with the average high ABV (7%+) craft beer?

For me, lowering my beer consumption has helped me lose weight. Your mileage may vary.

Yes, I believe they distribute to CA.

There's one out here that we get which kind of tastes like fruit loops - can't remember the name of it though.

I used to pass that every day on my way home from work, hoping that the "Opening Soon" sign would be replaced by a "Now Open" sign. Still haven't made it over there.
