it's one of our fav sam adams'. i also like their black lager and honey ale.

i posted a few pages back that blue moon has a summer edition: the honey moon summer ale. it's a wheat ale brewed with some honey. the flavor is similar to the regular blue moon with a just a slight sweetness to it, not at all sugary or overwhelming. it's pretty good.

i also tried the lagunitas sirius like i said i would, it was pretty good. i liked the smooth flavor. definitely something i'll get again.
 
Just popping a bottle of Bear Republic Racer 5. First impression, VERY mild for an IPA but tastes very refreshing on this hot day!
 
i also tried the deschutes black butte which i think RR recommended many pages back. it was REALLY good. really flavorful, not at all bitter (good for me since i don't like bitter). a really good black beer.

thanks for opening me up to some good beers guys.

i also saw this and got it to try:

it's a limited release wheat ale with passion fruit brewed into it. my husband hated it, he likes wheats but doesn't like any fruity flavors in his beer. i thought it was all right, it's not as fruity as a lambic, which i do like but tastes like alcoholic fizzy fruit juice... this beer tastes like a beer but with a tropically sweet after taste.
 
I didn't love the Wailua either.

Anyway, if you don't love the bitter, stick with hefes and maltier porters or stouts. definitely steer clear of any IPAs.
 
i don't really like hefes & i've had a few different kinds. they just don't do it for me. i usually steer clear of pale ales and IPA's but the squatter's IPA that i mentioned a week ago was pretty good. i think i can handle smooth bitters, but not the really over powering ones.

oh ya & i love porters and stouts. :)
 
I mentioned the hefes because you posted the other wheat beer, and also they generally have very low IBUs. But maybe they are too plain for you? A porter or stout may have a more readily noticeable depth of flavor.
 
oh ya, hefes make perfect sense for people who like wheats, but for some reason i don't like them. the last one i had was probably a few yrs ago so i forget what aspect of it i didn't like.

and ya, i do like the dark beers for their depth in flavor. :keg:
 
I know you mentioned lambics earlier... ever tried a sour beer? I listed one a couple weeks ago that was really good. You might like some of those as well.
 
no, never heard of sour beer. what was it called? i looked back a couple pages & didn't see it. i'll definitely try it though. :)
 
It was Monk's Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. You might not have seen it because it was at the bottom of my post that day, and I didn't have a pic of the bottle/label, like I did for all the others I listed. I believe my sister picked that one up at Hi Time, so I don't know if it's readily available everywhere, but you should be able to find it at a decent shop.
 
Didn't really have time to scan this entire thread, so if they have been recommended already, my apologies.
1) Blue Moon - Tried this last year at the Coors Brewery tour in Golden and fell in love with it. A Belgian wheat beer with a taste of citrus, best served with a slice of orange.

2)Just had this one this past week, and there are none left in the fridge, so I don't even have the name. It's made by Pyramid and in the same lines as Hefeweizen, but with apricot. Yummy!!!!

I figured some one would have posted Blue Moon, but I tried the summer ale Blue Moon and didn't really like it though. I am finding this whole try different beers rather enjoyable. I stopped drinking beer, well drinking altogether for quite some time now. All I would drink are the "generics", with Amstel Light being at the top of the list. Perhaps I'll venture back to the start of this post and read through it to get some good ideas.

I saw in another thread that you were gonna check out the Yard House. If you do, they have Lost Coast Apricot Wheat, which you will like.

They've got a Yardhouse close to me in Rancho Cucamonga. I've heard from multiple parties that the food is mediocre at best, but you cannot deny their enormous draft selection ! I've only been once but had an Anderson Valley Hop Ottin (sp?) IPA. Very yummy :)
 
Last weekend I picked up the Rogue Imperial IPA. The bottle (well, somewhat of a bottle.. interesting shape and maybe crafted out of aluminum?) was marked at $13.99. It's a double IPA which is right up my alley so I'm sure this one will be a treat.
 
I got these from Liqourama last Saturday

Trappistes Rochefort 6
Trappistes Rochefort 8
Trappistes Rochefort 10

I'll have some input in a couple weeks after I get to them. Not sure if I'll have any by this weekend, and the weekend after I will be out of town. Ugh I can't wait to sample these highly rated brews.

The only IPA exceptions that come to mind would be the BridgePort and Alaskan IPAs. Damn those are good and very mild in bitterness.
 
I just picked up some of this Russian beauty at BevMo in Orange over the weekend, but have yet to try it, and probably wont until I get back from Yosemite on Saturday...
