Funny TJ's story involving those.

My dad is a total smartass. Anyhow he started working at TJs a year and a half ago. One day he was working the register and a woman and her daughter came through his line and they had a recipe with them and my dad asked them what they were making and she said "Truffle Surprise" and my dad said it sounded interesting and asked if they had found everything on their list. She said they didn't have any truffles and my dad said "Sure we do, let me get some for you." He walks off and comes back with a box of the chocolate truffles and hands it to the woman.

She tells him that she's looking for this kind of truffle.

He never even considered the other kind of truffle which made him feel like a dumbass.

I recently became a fan of Trader Joe's!

The wife loves the TJ's Rosemary Ham.

I picked up their Kansas City BBQ Sauce for like $2.50 bucks and cant wait to try it out. I am also in love with their coffee, and it is SO inexpensive! These beans stay fresher than any others that I have bought, and best of all they taste delicious!

I've been hooked on the Tangerine Juice (currently in season) and have always been a fan of the green chili & cheese tamales. The frozen wild salmon is excellent and reasonably priced, same with a lot of the frozen fruit that I use to make smoothies with.

We used to get our produce and a few other things at Sprouts, averaging $40/week. Then we would go to Vons to pick up everything else, and would average $120!

Now we do this instead:

Trader Joe's = $50.00
Sprout's = $40.00

A total of $90 for the week!

Besides the obvious savings, its nice not to be in Vons and be asked the same question in every damn aisle "how are you doing today can I help you find anything"? I swear... EVERY aisle!

i had this for the first time while watching the last Kings game. it was pretty good. I just couldn't finish it though. I recommend it as a friend praised it to me lol

Do you know if TJ's sells black bean tamales?

I have been meaning to try black bean tamales.

i haven't seen any black bean tamales at TJs. i have been getting black bean tamales at my local farmer's market. they're amazing! you should check out your local farmers market to see if anyone has made their own for sell. other than that, i haven't seen anything similar at any store. wish they were in the stores.

I just went last night and bought a bunch of the stuff in this thread and other things.

So far, the Sushi was excellent, way better thatn Costco.

The Tangerine Juice is the BEST! Like OJ but a little sweeter.

The Italian Wrap was very good and the dipping sauce really brought it to life.

I got some pistachios but they were unsalted.. grrrr, gotta read the lable better next time.
