The Trade Deadline Thread

I'm a little worried Blake would c*ck up trading Roy.
Solid, physical, puck moving RHD? Those are Gold.
He is worth at least a 1st+.

Him and Arvy should go.
Blake Should Not Be Allowed To Do Anything Else!!
He's proven he's not up to the job.

Let the new GM revamp this roster.

Trading any combination of Roy, Arvidsson, Moore and/or Kempe could help rebuild the rebuild.

There are no trade deadline upgrades. We did all of the upgrading we needed in the offseason when we made the move for PLD. /s Get Arvy back and pray this team can get into the playoffs and make AEG some money in a likely first round exit.

Seriously, why make any moves which further mortgage the future in a prayer to do something in 23-24? This team is a tire fire right now. We probably need much more than a big strapping bottom 6 forward or a goalie to win the Cup. I'm not pushing all the chips in just to try and win a round.

The Kings FO should not make any moves short of selling off spare parts. This team was 16-4-4. What happened? It wasn't a total mirage; the team did play well. Challenge the players to figure out how get back to being a winning squad. This is gut check time to find out who is going to be a part of the core going forward.

Looks like Kopitar is physically done. Ask him to retire now and move on.
I don’t think he’s done. He’s just in the wrong role. Kopi should be playing on a 2nd line.

I actually like how Hiller has handled him so far. 17-18 minutes a night. Not matching him up against the top line vs. Edmonton. Giving him less and asking more of Danault and PLD. It worked just fine against the Oilers and it didn’t against Buffalo. That’s hockey. And if Hiller can keep a cap on his minutes Kopi will be more effective assuming he isn’t actually injured.

Maybe Blake & Co are waiting for his next contract to kick in, and then move him down to the 3rd line, where a $7m center is more palatable. I know that’s where PLD currently plays, but he was brought in for 8 years to take over Kopi’s spot, defensive warts and all

Though I like his game, I think you could add Tonka to that trade-able list... Roy being the big prize. One could deduce from Blake's comments that contract negotiations with Matt aren't proceeding well. Kinda makes me think he may be on his way.
I think Roy is looking for a big pay day. There have been stretches were he is really pushing the offense. Blowing the zone early etc. Just my opinion. Gavi got his money, and Roy wants his. Rob cannot afford it though.

As terrible as they looked yesterday I still think there’s a competitive squad in that locker room. Are they contenders? If the can find that magic they had for the first 30 games of the season, yes. But if they’re just going to give the effort one night and go through the motion the next then they’ll be swept in round 1 at best.

There’s no trade out there that’s going to right the ship this season. In the off-season some tough decisions will be required but here and now there’s still 32 games left to play. Kings need 40 points to essentially guarantee a playoff spot.

.625 win % with a sinking ship sounds bad

The next 6 games, 3 on the road and 3 against lesser teams, might be very telling. If the team doesn't appear to be righting the ship, I would not at all be surprised if Blake starts unloading pieces. Of course, I could also see him standing pat and just riding it out especially if he figures he's a lame duck GM and isn't be pushed by Luc or ownership to make any moves. If it appears we aren't playoff bound or a contender, he hopefully moves guys like Roy and Arvi along with guys they know aren't in the longer term plans for assets to help with the next 5 year "the plan" rebuild.

What happened in the last two games is very confusing. A 4-0 shutout against their post season nemesis, followed by a 7-0 loss to a team in the East. I personally don't see Blake doing anything yo make them competitive this year or the next 2. His job is on the line...he never should have been hired as a GM with zero experience. Just the good ol' boys system.

I didn't expect the Oilers to get shutout but they did just play a game the night before vs Anaheim for what it's worth.
