The Trade Deadline Thread

Picking up Hertl means Vegas cannot activate Stone until the Playoffs. It sure would be funny if they don’t make it.
I hope like hell it happens but Vegas missing is the same as the Kings missing when we were sucking. Super unlikely to happen. Out of the ugly cast of cats and dogs chasing us, I don't see 2 getting past us (or Vegas for that matter).

This seems like the most active lead up and trade deadline in a while. Very entertaining.
It seems like Vegas alone would have made it so.. here’s another thing that has crossed my mind. With the way that organization handles it’s cap shenanigans/LTIR stuff, I would not be one bit surprised to see them actually TRY and mastermind a way to sneak in as a wild card, thus getting to face Vancouver, as opposed to Edmonton in the first round.

I really hate to see sh*t like this get published, especially when it didn’t come to fruition. You know Rittich and Talbot will have heard about it, and one can only hazard a guess as to what it does for their mentality. For what it’s worth, I’m more confident with this tandem than I was with the Quick/Copley tandem for the previous two playoff series.
When these things leak it’s usually pretty easy to see which party involved did the leaking because you can see the motivation to spin the story in their favor but with this one I don’t see anyone who comes out looking good.

Ullmark looks like he’d rather ride the bench than be a starter for a playoff team.
Kings look like they don’t trust Talbot and Rittich.
Boston looks like they’re sitting on their hands while an asset loses value.

Very odd.

I just said last night that I think VGK is purposely tanking so they get Vancouver instead of us getting VAN.

Yeah, Vegas just picked up 3 assets that will ensure they make the playoffs AND they'll get Stone back the day after the regular season ends. They may have just turned into favorites again.

And even bigger, Vegas added significant assets with term that will keep them relevant, competitive and likely a playoff team for the next 5 year. Meanwhile, the Kongs are in year 5 of the rebuild.

Vegas’ season has been similar to the Kings in that they started out red hot and kind of vacillated between slumps to streaks.

Everyone assumes it’s all due to the health of their stars but when I watch them play I don’t see the juggernaut from last season.

It’s a bit crazy, and I get that it’s currently within the boundaries of the rules, but this season might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I simply cannot see the majority of the league being comfortable with Vegas going in to every playoff series with an extra 10 or $12 million of salary cap talent.

Then the rest of the league shouldn't be the ones making these deals that enable them.

Reports are that it was not the Kings that were the other team in this deal.
