Turcotte and a Pick!

Out of the second group, I’d keep Foegele and Moore. Both are effective at creating chaos and give 100% each shift. Kuz puts in effort too, but his contract is up in a few months.

Turcotte and Danault are practically invisible out there. Danault especially seems to have given up. Not sure what’s going on there, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he wants out of LA.
The only reason Turcotte is invisible out there is that he...is rarely ever on the ice. When he is on the ice he is been consistently pretty visible.

I don't get the sentiment of trading Turcotte - his potential is too high and value too low to trade. Kings would be well served to give him ice time and set him up for a Stoll-like role in the future.

I just watched him have open ice in a foot race against a tired player, go full out, and lose the foot race.

It’s really time for Holland to cut bait.

Are you sure Turcotte was fresh on the ice? Anyway, this Ducks team is quicker / faster than than the Kings.

He may have lost a foot race this last game, but more times than not he seems to do just fine.

Watched him get pushed around all night, and then he took a dumb penalty.

He tries to initiate contact like Fiala, and then loses horribly. When get goes into the corners or behind the net, every defenseman out there just pins him easily, and he can’t fight his way out of it.

Rather see Big Sami in the lineup for 5 minutes a night.

I'd like to see Sami get more games in too - especially against the more physical teams. That said, Turcotte is a completely different player and more effective against the faster teams like the Ducks.

Say what you will, but the three players able to get under the other team's skin are Perry, Clarke and Turcotte. Having players like that on the roster plays dividends, especially come playoff time, but you could argue that having three may not be needed.

All said, though, we really shouldn't be debating which one (Turcotte or Helenius) should be in the lineup, but rather how to get them both into the lineup. Unfortunately the road is temporarily blocked based on the off-season FA signings of Perry and Kuz.

I don’t really think the debate should be about Turcotte or Helenius. I would scratch Danault a couple games, and let Turcotte play with better line mates instead, and let Sami run amuck with malott
I know after all these years not really replying, but just reading... Danault is the odd man out. He is such a Good Person and was fire when he was acquired. Solid Captain for another team. I hate to say this, but I bet Verbeek would do a 1 for 1 for Gudas. It would make both teams better if contracts are exchanged even. Moving Turcotte up a line and having the 4th line of Mallot, Perry (which i hate saying but is like a Carsillo thing) Centered by Huh-lane-e-us would probably be that spark the 70's line did.

That’s short sighted. We’d need 2 Top 3 centers next summer instead of 1.

And no, Turcotte is not a Top 3 Center.

Maybe something like Turcotte + Chromiak +4th or Chromiak + 2nd ROR
Danault to Vancouver for Garland
Danault + 3rd to Philly for Cates or Foerster
Not sure if either team is interested
There's Montreal, but not sure what they have that would help us, that they'd move that is

Yeah, not sure Turcotte is ready to be a full time top 9 center. I think the only way they move Danault is for parts that could be used to acquire a more suitable Kopi replacement.

The Kings will for sure have a hole to fill at center this summer. Moving Danault with no plan to upgrade that position would mean there are 2 big holes. That might just be the final nail in the coffin for this team for a while.

The only way I see them moving Danault is if they acquire Ror or another upgrade at center

A roster player is reportedly on the table if needed to upgrade the scoring. I think we can all determine said roster player could include Turcotte and Moore at the upper end of what they can offer and Malott, Helenius, and Kuzmenko at the other since they are technically roster players.

This is Hiller we’re talking about. Holland isn’t trading Danault to force Turcotte and Helenius on Simple Jim as his bottom six. Hiller withstanding, that’d be a dirty move for any coach.

You move Danault and Kuzmenko with salary retained (Kopi's off the books next season, O'Reilly's contract is a bargain) and use the return along with this year's 1st rounder to get O'Reilly. I am afraid, however, Greentree would have to be included, which I would absolutely hate.

I'd keep Turcotte for QB's "wingman" so he could take the more important faceoffs.

Fiala-O'Reilly-Kempe
Turcotte-QB-Moore
Foegele-Kopitar-Laf
Armia-Helenius-Perry
Malott - Lee

Or something along those lines...

I'd give Lee a chance with the big club again, to rest and conserve Perry before the playoffs...he seems to be improving with each year in the AHL. Could be our Dwight King of 2026 if there are any injuries.

EDIT: if we fail in the O'Reilly sweepstakes...how do you guys feel about Stamkos? The Kings have the cap space if they offload Kuzmenko and Danault without too much salary retained. He should help with PP...maybe HE is our 2026 Carter? If he's willing to waive his NMC, of course. Maybe he'd like to have a taste of LA beaches (I assume he likes warm weather and not too much pressure from media considering he spent 90% of his career in Florida).

I would move QB back to wing. Aside from his faceoff failings, Q is just too random to be a top 6 NHL center. Fiala and Kempe on the same line does not work. Oil and water… no chemistry at all.
