George Carlin - Take-Offs and Put-Ons (1967)

I have not listened to this in almost 35 years and it's as funny as ever.

Lapdance (Paul Oakenfield Swordfish Mix) N*E*R*D off the Swordfish soundtrack....
and, by the time I finished typing: Mind Your Own Business by Delta 5 off Rough Trade Shops - Post Punk came on

had it for the last year and this is only the 2nd spin...

Does that mean it sucks or that you have a lot of things to listen to? I gave up on Bad Religion after that "into the Unknown" catastrophe...but hey, that was a LOOOOOng time ago, maybe time to open my mind.

it means i like all their other albums better. i don't think it sucks, but it's not one of those "it speaks to me" type albums... didn't really have anything for me to latch onto and commit to my heart and my memory.
i've got every album from bad religion except for the empire strikes first... (which i'll get eventually)... and this one just happens to be at the bottom of the list for the aforementioned reasons whenever i'm in the mood to reach for BR.

The new California Guitar Trio CD 'Echoes'

The musicianship is top notch (as it is for all CGT releases) the last 2 tracks have vocals (which is odd for CGT). Most notable tracks are covers of "Music for a Found Harmonuim' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and a killer cover of Pink Floyd's 'Echoes'

How Could Hell Be Any Worse

it's not one of those "it speaks to me" type albums... didn't really have anything for me to latch onto and commit to my heart and my memory.
I swear it has probably been decades since I heard the tune but it only takes one little mention of BR and I'm thinkin' (how could hell be any worse when life alone is such a curse, f armagedon this is hell....) It was a sort of anthem of my youth...

Hey, speaking of anthems and things that stick, have you ever listened to Naked Raygun? I'm not officially listening right this second but almost daily I find myself singing or humming "I Lie..right to your face, not because I want to ...". Talk about latching on....

i'm more of a:
  • 21st century digital boy (came out when i was in jr. high and got me into BR in the 1st place)
  • infected
  • no control
  • american jesus
  • we're only going to die for our own arrogance
  • i want to conquer the world
kinda girl.

although it might be frowned upon by the staunchest of BR fans, "infected" has stuck with me since high school purely for talking about a relationship and involving allusion to religion in the process. bonus points for the usage of the word supplicate, heh.

Don't be mad about it baby,
You and me, you and me,
I want to tie you, crucify you,
Kneel before you, revile your body,
You and me, we're made in heaven,
I want to take you, I want to break you,
Supplicate you, are incurable,
I want to bathe you in holy water I want to kill you,
Upon the alter, you and me, you and me

i'd have to say nay on the naked raygun. i'm more of a buzzcocks kinda girl.

THEDOGSDAMOUR_WBGTH.jpg

aaah the DOGS D'AMOUR, just like the LONDON QUIREBOYS...2 bands that got caught up in the late hair metal phase...who both got shut out by The Black Crowes...similar stuff...very FACES/ROLLING STONES...but dirtier and even sleazier, if you can imagine it. I was fortunate enough to see the Dogs before their inevitable collapse...at FLORENTINE GARDENS...and Tyla(the singer)'s girlfriend came up 1/2 way into it and shoved a broken bottle in her man's chest...paramedics were called...hijinx ensued...ah(wipes away tear) the good old days...:manybeers:

I'm at work alone this A.M. so I've had it on Fungus 53 for about 2 hours. Vandals, Dead Kennedys, T.S.O.L., Toy Dolls just to name a few. So far so good.
