avenged sevenfold's new album nightmare, if you're an avenged fan pick it up tuesday, it's my second fav album next to waking the fallen.

As someone who thinks the band has been rather inconsistent and mediocre since Waking the Fallen (one of my favourite albums of all time), should I be expecting anything out of it?

it's a mix of city of evil with a hint of metallica's black album and some guns n roses use your illusion I and II, nothing super incredible, but i like it a little better than city of evil, and much better than the self titled. you'll like the songs nightmare and god hates us. and yes, waking the fallen is a top 3 album for me with pantera cowboys from hell and hatebreed's perseverance record for me as far as popular heavy music is concerned.

I was about to post that I'm listening to the album Nightmare right now, but I figured I'd get laughed at. I have been a huge fan since the song Chapter Four was in NHL 2004. They were my introduction into heavier music, and they have been one of my favorite bands ever since. Nightmare is a good album, my favorites are "Welcome to the Family," "Fiction," and "Danger Line."

I agree though, Waking the Fallen is my favorite by far...but I like all of their albums.

everyone here listens to different stuff, people who laugh at us are probably listening to music we'd laugh at too! but everyone has different tastes. anyway enough of that, i love nightmare and on top of that i'm also listening to the acacia strain's new release wormwood and it's very heavy and great if you're into emmure, oceano, or first blood.

Acacia Strain! Hell yeah! (In other words...more karma to you!) Emmure- Good band live, but I don't care for their recorded material (if that makes sense.) Never heard of Oceano or First Blood.

My brother bought it yesterday, and I think it's their best effort since Waking the Fallen. It has some weak tracks like Nightmare, Victim, and So Far Away, but God Hates Us, Save Me, and Buried Alive are absolute gems.

So Far Away is a great song, imo. Synyster Gates wrote it for/about The Rev, and he did a pretty good job. I agree with Victim, although I don't hate it by any means. The lyrics are good, the song is just too long though.

I think for So Far Away it's that I don't usually like A7X's slow songs because they just come across as cheesy to me. There are some exceptions though (I Won't See You Tonight Part 1, Tonight The World Dies among others)
