It's not bad. But not even in my top-20 of the best albums of the year, however (yes, I have already started pulling my list together - stay tuned!)

****, man, I'm stressing about what to put in my top 10... There's been a lot of good stuff released this year, but I haven't had time to really listen to a lot of it much.

And PJ best be on your list, son, or we gonna have words.

Lemme just say this - each of the top-3 is a theme album. ;)

Swinging to this while grinding away at year end numbers.......

I feel bad that my musical tastes are not as refined as all y'all(well...not really). I always buy every Korn cd. As co-standard bearers of the Nu-Metal genre(Deftones have to be included there) they share the misfortune of being instantly recognizable, therefore borderline repetitious. If you disagree look at Godsmack/Sevendust/Disturbed/etc. These are bands that diminish themselves with every new cd, simply because it all blends together after a while. Korn has always tried to create NEW music when they do put out an album. This continues/expands on that. It still has the Korn touchstones, but it is almost as if they are playing with some weird sort of electronic symphony. It makes the overall effort sound almost mechanically dreamlike. I listened to it 3 times back to back and it works really well as a whole. Even if you only marginally like Korn this is certainly worth a listen just because it's different, not LuLu different, because folks who like this kind of music can only bend so far, but different nonetheless. ReKommend!

Because I have to be fully invested in listening to it. I love this album.

My new obsession is a band called Volbeat. A band that combines The Misfits, Metallica, Social Distortion and Johnny Cash and makes great, great music.

One of the best parts of subscribing to METAL HAMMER/CLASSIC ROCK, besides the great mags, are the free cds with every issue. Usually thay are samplers but last months MH had this

in it. Nothing earth shattering, just real good heavy rock with old school guitar leads. Not the usual gurglespeed stuff, but actual songs with a singer who can sing. Surprising how rare that is these days. Kinda reminded me of a good version of Leatherwolf.
