Just finished rocking out to Jimmy Eat World - The Middle - drum machine handled the drum and bass tracks, me on lead guitar, 9 year old daughter on rhythm guitar and my wife and neighbor singing....

what a fun time.. my daughter is all into it .. and really starting to rock.

Home studio... best thing ever.

How is it???? Her last album, to me, was a recycling of her previous melodies/themes. Kind of let down with it, but, understandable considering the tragic personal loss she experienced.

She's returned to her Celtic roots, more like "Book of Secrets" than "An Ancient Muse".

There is only 1 original song, the rest is her rendition of traditional Celtic music.

Paul's solo album rocks. Ace's is brilliant. Gene's is interesting...hell even Peter's is fun. Man what a snapshot of how fractured this band was at the height of their fame.

It still bums Gene and Paul out b/c Ace had the biggest hit /highest chart
position of all the solo records singles.

I wonder if they still play it with Tommy Thayer as guitarist?

No, but they do Rocket Ride instead. Bastards. Yeah I think that Paul's album is VERY underrated and I am sure that causes him no small amount of frustration. Gene's was more...diverse, with a lot of guest appearances. I am not sure he was really going for commercial success as much as stretching out and showcasing that he could do more than God Of Thunder. It was probably the last time Gene had any musical integrity.

Ok, I get it...Kid Rock has grown up and become Bob Seger. Fair enough. And it's not bad. Nice country/classic rock vibe throughout...but I can't help thinking that with Rick Rubin producing an opportunity was lost. There is just no song here where Kid Rock just cuts loose and...well...ROCKS. Anyone could have produced this. When will Rick Rubin produce another RAWK cd? Guy gets the best out of drums/bass/rythym guitars and needs to produce a cd where a band just cuts loose.
