Grabbed the Underworld:Awakening soundtrack on Tuesday. Some really good stuff on there. Having a female-heavy percentage of the 17 tracks is nice for a change too.
Enjoying the variety of artists covering Dylan's music in this release for Amnesty International. If you can't get past Dylan's voice (and you should), this might be a good way to check out his music. Impressed at the songs which were covered, since it isn't just covers of his best known songs.
I think I have that 2 Tone collection. Is that the one with a song about the best thing of some people being their girlfriend? I know a few people like that.
A big disappointment - Alain Johannes really ****ed this album up.
Lanegan may have the dirtiest rock voice ever, filtered through layers of whiskey, cigarettes and heroin gravel. He needs a harder, more spacious sound for the mood to resonate - its his strength. This album is filled to the gills with 90's Stan Ridgway-type electronics, layer upon layer of unnecessary tweaks and overly repetitive and overly familar lines.
This is a b-side that didn't make the lp, and it just blows away any of the tracks that did make it:
I have a question has Lanegan ever fronted an album that has been consistent from beginning to end? I mean I always thought consistency is what prevented Mudhoney from being as big as other grunge bands.
