Always have liked The Darkness, but they have always seemed like Justin Hawkins voice was the thing and the songs just never measured up. Not this time. Great catchy toons worthy of Mott/Bowie/Queen and a perfect summer album. Their frequent tour mates Foxy Shazam(who I have been known to talk about) finally have an lp that might challenge them for best of the year.

We live on a mountain,
right at the top.
There's a beautiful view...
from the top of the mountain.
Every morning i walk towards the edge
and throw little things off.
Like car-parts, bottles and cutlery...
or whatever i find lying around.

Its become a habit...

WHYCOME nobody let me know these guys put out a new album. Their last 'The House that Dirt Built' was a surprise fave of last year and still gets repeated play.

Keep an eye out for these guys. Like a fuzzbox stonergrunge southern Wolfmother. This ep was rushed out and whoever holds em thinks they got something special. Expect a bit of a press.

Another band that the label thinks is special. Sorta Def Lep on through the night-ish w/ a bit more punk-y tude. Veddy English...and a start of a NWOBHM(probly not). Got the posh spot opening for Motley/Kiss, so again, expect to see these guys a bit.

A band that has simply gotten better with each release. Doing things their own way. Have not heard this yet, can't wait. All the best of Zep/Free/Humble Pie with a unique swagger that has to be heard. This is a band that could save RAWK.

So it is not right at this moment but we took in Styx at a county fair last night. We had great seats in row 2 and had a great time. Tommy Shaw can still sing and Jim Young can still play guitar. They got a Canadian dude who sounds just like Dennis DeYoung with less drama. Great show and took the kids - the oldest got two Jim Young picks while the youngest - who is a drummer - caught a drum stick thrown to the audience. It was fun and "Miss America" never sounded better. Lol!
