What are you reading? What was the last book you enjoyed?

I am re-reading Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and reading The Arthur Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskervilles" for the first time.

I am afraid, however, that I might end up abandoning Snow Crash because school just started.

The Corner by David Simon and Edward Burns

I've been looking for this book in bookstores for years (yeah I was too lazy to order it online). So far it's pretty good, narcotics is a pretty interesting world.

I finished Q & A by Vikas Swarup.

It's the book that Slumdog Millionaire was based on, in fact it is now being marketed under that title rather an Q & A - which I don't agree on. Like the movie, the book is excellent! However, because of the many major departures in the events between the book and the movie, I almost consider them two separate entities rather than them being related.

I can see why they changed a lot of things in the book for the movie. The chronology of the events in the book jumps everywhere and it gets a little confusing at times. There is also a lot more dark subject matter that probably wouldn't have 'captivated audiences' as much.

deep in the Harry Dresden series right now...and as much as I am digging it's HELLBLAZER meets the NIGHTSTALKER vibe...3 books in it still ain't as good as:

Simon Green's Nightside series...

But damn...if you like longterm series...cannot go wrong with either of these!

I really enjoyed it. It's basically the autobiography about Mark Oliver Everret, who is the frontman of the band Eels.

Just breezed through the first two books of The Dark Tower series:

The first was pretty rough around the edges but excellent overall... you could tell he wrote it very early in his career. The second was far better written and way different from anything I've read by King in the past. Pretty good, I'll definitely continue the series, but for now I'm on to some more serious material:

Just finished Last Watch which is the final book for the Night Watch tetralogy by Sergei Lukyanenko. It is my favorite out of the whole series. Normally I don't read scifi/fantasy book but these are pretty fricken awesome. I highly recommend! (The first two books have movie adaptations, but of course the books are still better.)
