Wow, this book was absolutely mesmerizing. Can't remember the last time I read something so gripping and powerful. This gem took home the Pulitzer in 1988, and deservedly so. A true classic in American literature.

This was definitely the best book I've ever read. It's a masterpiece in every sense of the word. Brilliantly written with fascinating characters (especially the judge). It is extremely violent, but that definitely shouldn't stop anyone from reading it.
 
I finished reading William Gibson's Neuromancer. It was interesting and it's definitely an important book, but it was difficult for me to get through at times, I don't know whether it was what can be seen as 'technobabble' language or what. It does remind me of Stephenson's Snow Crash, which in my opinion is the better of the two books.

Loved the movie so I decided to read the book. Thought it was ****ing fantastic. The last chapter sucked though, the movie ended on the second to the last chapter and the book should have ended there too.
 
So I finished the above book in 2 days. Sure it's juvenile fiction and an easy read, but it sure is a great story!

Now I'm waiting for the library to send me the rest of the books!

"The Sea of Monsters" is next!

Ok, due to car troubles, I have been relegated to public transportation lately...and boy did I pick the wrong book to start reading. I can't get through half a page without laughing out loud...and that kind of behaviour tends to make folks nervous. This is Leary at his best...f'Dennis Miller, the real man's rantologist is D.L.

next up, cause I just cannot get enough of an underdog story

Just finished this one that the wife gave me a couple of years ago for Christmas. It was good as well and gave some good backstory on the players and some present info on where they are.

One of the best ****ing books I've ever read. The plot on its own isn't the most interesting, but John Irving's writing style kept me engrossed pretty much from the beginning. I was moved to tears at the end, something that doesn't often happen when I read a book.

Cool Beans! I have this in my to-do stack of books and it just moved up a few places. Isn't this the one about the height-challenged kid that they made into a crappy flick?

Dude, Owen Meany should totally be a post in the "Books you couldn't finish thread" for me. Couldn't finish that book. Hahahhaha JD, that crappy flick is the only reason why I have no ill will towards the book. Yeah I know it's not the same, but I got the gist of it!

Mariah Mundi - The Midas Box by GP Taylor last night while Adgy and I were trolling the Crown Books Liquidation Center (which is an evil place because I drop lots of money there). So far it's pretty good...hopefully it stays that way because I picked it up based on the dust jacket cover design and the summary on the inside.

Yea, the movie Simon Birch is loosely based on Owen Meany. I saw it a long time ago, way before I read the book, and from what I remember it was a really ****ty movie. I actually had no idea the two were related when I first started reading the book. The movie changes the story and leaves out several pivotal plotlines. It really didn't do Irving's masterpiece any justice.

Just finished reading Choke today. I liked it, thought it was one of Palahniuk's better novels. It was nice to have a quick reader after the nearly 700 page Owen Meany.

Up next for me is some Fyodor Dostoevsky. Gonna read Notes from Underground
