What are you reading? What was the last book you enjoyed?

Well Hell...you know I love this. Pegg's down-to-earth nature and his loyalty to his friends(NICK FROST BITCHES) is charming and makes you love him even more.

I just started reading recently again. I have crates full of books sitting in the garage. I've been spending too much time sitting in front of the TV so I decided to start reading again.

In the last month I have started this series by Terry Brooks:

Genesis of Shannara

  • Armageddon's Children
  • The Elves of Cintra
  • The Gypsy Morph
I have read the first book and looking forward to the next two.

then I also started this series by Stephen R. Donaldson:
(I read the first six books of the series a while ago)

THE LAST CHRONICLES OF THOMAS COVENANT

He is a little bit overboard on the language sometimes. He spends too much time in his thesaurus. Unfortunately the fourth and final book in the series won't be out until next year (bummer)

The Last Dark

Thought I would pop in here since I am avoiding Home Ice for a bit.

I am currently reading

It has been a very interesting read so far.

I have also been reading The Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. They have been quite enjoyable quick reads. Great series for traveling!

I watched and enjoyed the Dresden Files TV Series so I started this series by Jim Butcher:

  • Codex Alera
I have read through these so far.

I am in the middle of this one:

and I mistakenly started the third book before I realized I skipped a book so I have read half of this one as well.

The rest of the series will include these and I will most likely finish these off as well.

Will finish it soon on my gTablet w/ Nook Reader App.

Heh, Tucker Max. 'I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell' the movie was OK. Nothing special. But I liked his blog years ago, so maybe the book is worth a laugh?

I read one Douglas Coupland book, Eleanor Rigby, which I really liked.

I need to read more of his work.

I don't read much but I have started more recently. So I decided to read the next great fantasy series.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

Isn't this the writers only novel so far? I hate having to wait for the next novels if this is a continuing series.

It was a great book. Almost as good as GRR Martin. But completely opposite type of novel.

Fire and Ice is an ensemble of characters while this focuses on one character.

And don't fret about the next book since I am now reading....

It came out last week.

Nice, I prefer paperbacks so I will have to wait a bit more I think.

Also just started my first George R.R. Martin Novel. A Storm of Swords.

Again it is not the first of the series but I will see if I enjoy it through the first bit and if I do I will get the beginning books of the series. It's a beast of a book over 900 pages.

Anyone know of a good internet site to buy books at on the cheap?

I started using this one:

https://www.discountbooksale.com/

They seem to have most books at discounted prices.

She said she thought of me and picked it up. I'm going to start reading after the game tonight. I've read the reset of DNA's hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series, and they were great. This should be good, but I think it's incomplete? No? RIP Douglas Adams.

Just discovered this guy from an article I read in the WSJ a couple weeks ago. Picked this one up on the Nook. Enjoyable enough so far. EXTREMELY HARD sci-fi, getting deep into the math of near speed-of-light travel. It's also good at examining the potential psychological effects on travelers who leave Earth at relativistic speeds, knowing that only ten years into their journey will cause hundreds of years to have passed on Earth.

Just read the first two books in the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian (Master and Commander & Post Captain). After you get in to the flow of the period language and nautical-speak, the books are riveting. A nice dry wit thrown in for good measure. Looking forward to finishing the series.

The Forever War explored the topic pretty well as I recall albeit as a much lighter read than what you are describing.
