What are you reading? What was the last book you enjoyed?

Sweet! I was never really into reading books. I tried ,a lot, while i was in high school, but I never managed to get through a single book. Anyways, this is what I'm having read to me at the moment:

It's read by Roy Dotrice, who has a pretty good voice for the series, IMO. My only issue with him, and even Dexter pointed this out, is that he has a not so good voice for the female characters. I got used to it as I went on, but later in the series, he changes some of the voices and it just throws me off. This is my second time going through the series. I'll be sure to look for some of the other books mentioned here. Especially World War Z.
 
Do graphic novels count? I've been reading the Grendel series from Matt Wagner and friends. In the past, I'd read early Grendel (Hunter Rose/Christine Spar era) and late Grendel (Grendel Kahn era), but this is the first time I'm reading the entire series from start to end to see how the story progressed from the early days to the Grendel Kahn era.

If you can read it, or someone else reads it to ya...I say ALL IN. Ok, cereal boxes,recipes etc...lets don't be wiseasses about it. But any kind of fiction/nonfiction/graphic novel feel free.

Honestly though reading Gideons Sword. It glossed over the media leak of potential terrorists having a nuke. In and of itself thats a whole novel that doesn't even need a conclusion

Look man, as soon as they went from SUGAR smacks to golden smacks the era of good cereal boxes was OVER. You wanna go retro...fine. But don't bring none of this soft new crap into my house!!!!!!:argue:

Don't forget the traveshamockery of removing the 'sugar' from 'Sugar Corn Pops'. And I think they are just 'Smacks' now.
 
So if we're going to start including graphic novels...

I just finished the first 17 volumes of Peter David's recent X-Factor run.

It's mostly about some of the lesser-known mutants in Marvel's universe running what is basically a mutant detective agency. The series is up to 20 trades, but I haven't picked up 18-20 yet. It's a great ****ing book. Funny and smart as hell. Never fails to surprise. I'm a big fan of Peter David, and it's my favorite thing he's done so far.

Walking Dead Vol. 18 - I really like where this book is at right now, as far as where the characters are at both physically and otherwise, but the current bad guy, Negan, is in many ways very similar to the Governor. The last issue of this trade brings in Ezekiel, though, who I know is going to be an important player next trade and seems like a very interesting character. The book is still an enjoyable read for me and the artwork by Charlie Adlard continues to be excellent.
 
Look. If you have not read the Preacher run, well you know nothing. It is the be all and end all, easily the greatest/most necessary since Miller's Dark Knight and Moore's Watchmen. Yeah, it's that good.

Next to Lemmy, Al is the ****. I expect this to be a fun read. Never had a lot of luck with bio's, hopefully this will spark me to read the Ace Frehley/Peter Criss/Glenn Hughes bios I got collecting dust...oh yeah, and Keith Richards/Sammy Hagar/Rod Stewart too.

Same here. A friend gave me a couple boxes of comics and graphic novels when he was moving and there was a mix of early and late Grendel in there. That was all I had until recently thanks to the magic of the internet and comic book readers.

Totally agree. Also on that list for me is Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson. Social commentary, humor, sex, drugs, and senseless violence. What more could one ask for in a comic?
 
I've read the Preacher and I still don't know a damn thing. mhihi: :manybeers:

Seriously, I'll say it again, when the Preacher, the Invisibles, and Transmetropolitan were all coming out, well, that was a golden age.

hmmmm, considering I don't usually read graphic novels but I have read those 2 (amongst others) I guess I'll have to check out this Preacher run business.
