......and getting better, and better, and better, and better!!!!!!

With clearing out these guys, and all the rest of MLS teams needing to be roster compliant, is it possible that Kuntz is cooking up a deal inside of MLS at the roster compliant deadline?!?!?!?

BTW....wish Bond well. Nice guy.

He made some dynamic saves at times.
Let in quite a few howlers.
His distribution was poor.
Squeaky bum time on EVERY corner.

1-1 draw.

Bad:
Puig taking penalties……WHY? Greg, learn something, please! This guy does not take penalties!!
Puig turning the ball over for Messi.
Delgado being a bonehead with two yellows.
Ref…..Horrific on nearly everything.
MLS….. step in and end the strike, give the refs what they want.

Good:
Our keeper. Bond in goal would have been a loss.
Paintsil is excellent…wait till he gets going.
Pec is excellent…wait till he gets going
Dejan getting on the board in game one.
Puig is great….but he tries to do too much.
Back line was solid. (I feel Aude is made of glass).

I feel better about this season.
Just need to get the boys more playing time together. I think they will be FAR better than last season.

Additional takes, after sleeping on it:

Cerrillo had a great game (until he didn't mark Messi on his goal)...he was all over Messi, and he did exactly what you want your D midfielder to do...stop plays, execute take-aways, mark the attackers, get the ball out on turn-overs. He was surprisingly good considering Brugman is still out. If he can keep this up, he may play his way to being a starter for good.

Yoshida and Caceres were excellent. Yoshida had A GAME!!!
My only concern is the miles on these two. They are going to need some rotation. They can't do 90 minutes back to back to back.
We need Neal back ASAP. Also, Miami is "slow", and I wonder how this backline would do against a fast team, or quick counter team.
That type of team "could" break them. I hope not.

As the season goes on, and the whole team gets time go gel and learn about each other, I hope Puig figures out that he can do "less", and distribute / pass more. Sure the last couple of years he has to do everything, but this year there is quality. He can now avoid dribbling around and trying to go through everyone on his own. He can learn now to be selective, and exploit the space when available, but also not having to do it every time, and he can pass and distribute to make our attack even faster.

Hope Brugman is good to go for this weeks match, because of Delgado.....how do you go in for a tackle like that when you are on a yellow?!?!? Sure he missed him, but what if he didn't? I wonder if Brugman is still quite a ways off because why didn't Greg sub out Delgado on the yellow for Brugman....especially considering this ref?......meh.....who am I kidding...its Greg.

Watch Messi point and signal to his keeper the direction Puig is going to shoot on the penalty.
GOAT knows things.

Is it that he trained with Puig and knows his tendancies?
OR
Does Puig telegraph the way he is going to shoot so clearly that a guy looking from behind at midfield can see it?

Didn't see the game, was too busy going to 2 premier league games, a carabao cup final and a tottenham stadium tour in the span of 2 days. But glad to see they didn't lose!

G’s looking good in the CaliClasico!

Paintsil has really changed the team.
He’s such a threat with his speed in counters.

Need Jalen back soon.
Our two “old” CB’s made a few mistakes and they are going to need rest.

Greg’s subs with Pec were odd.
He pulled Dejan and Paintsil and then out on Pec. Pec has yet to play with Dejan and Paintsil all together.

G’s up!

Didn't see the game yesterday, but a point on the road is okay?
I usually say a point on the road is "good".

but........

In this case, Nashville had a rotated squad + Dejan missed penalty + Paintsil bonehead dribble into the box to give Nashville a penalty (and they convert) + Paintsil hitting the woodwork + Puig scoring, but offside + No Pec in the line-up + G's beating Nashville in nearly every category on the stat sheet as well.

"Should" have been 3 points on the road.
However they did come back from down 0-2 on the road.
Last year's squad would have folded like a cheap tent.

Onward!

Boy, we sure are conceding a lot of goals so far this season. Need to be better.

On the offensive side of the ball, G’s could have had 5 goals easily.

G’s have a real hard time playing out of the back against pressing teams. Thankfully Paintsil can run like the wind, and retrieve balls played into space.

However the G’s need more than the Paintsil Hail Mary passes to break presses.

This draw felt like a loss.
Martin’s red really gonna hurt next week’s match, but he made the right call.

Man it is a trip seeing Paintsil in person run right by defenders. You see him take a couple steps than take off and that speed is out of nowhere. Jovelic had two chances in the second half that I can't believe didn't get scored. I'll give credit to St. Louis' goalkeeper though who had a game. The through balls to Painstil were also pretty good.

Set piece defense needs work. Red was absolutely necessary or that probably would've been a goal, hence the standing ovation he got on his way out to the locker room.

Referees were, well referees.

Good to be back in the digs. Electric crowd.

this is out my way so hell yes!

I've been saying for awhile ventura county or more specifically anything west of calabasas/agoura needs a footprint, and LAFC had completely outmarketed them for three years straight. I look forward to this, and a shorter drive than the hour 40 it took me to get to dignity health saturday from west hills (i blame the marathon)
