All Things:AMC television

I don't want to hear ANY complaints. CarolDarryl for 48 minutes...best episode of the season. The halfway house, Darryl pocketing the book on surviving abuse...just terrific. So many great little quiet passages, punctuated by grunts of dialogue. Good ****in stuff Maynard.

My only complaint about TWD the other night is it feels like Carol has very little time left. I think Beth is going to become the new love interest for Darryl and Carol may die at the halfway point getting Beth free. I don't want that to happen and I will be upset enough to reconsider watching anymore. Please let me be wrong about that.

Got that feeling too as her character growth or decline depending on which way you look at, is not going to change much. Also feel the same way about Maggie and Glenn to some extent as their character development has stalled. Maybe the she will stay and Darryl will continue to bring back her humanity

Beth is Carl's love interest. There was one episode where they hinted at something with Darryl and Michonne, which would be the most interesting possibility and will likely happen if Carol goes away. There's no real reason to lose her, although I am guessing she is considered more expendable than most characters who have been on the show for more than a season or two. Now that we know the riveting secret of how she washed that zombie gunk off of herself while she was attacking Terminus, there may be no more mysteries, but the writers are free to make more.

How come no one has addressed the whole grown-up young Chris Rock thing? I didn't even realize it was him in the first episode and then I saw his name last Sunday in the opening credits and then he shows up alls grown-up. Unlike his dorky best buddy, who still looked like a little kid in The Sitter. I can't believe his dad left him to die in Atlanta just so he could stay in NYC and become a police sergeant.

As for the alleged lack of the main group, I am pretty sure Glenn, Carol, and Darryl are integral parts of the main group, and Maggie and Beth did come along in the second season. Unless I'm forgetting someone, the only season one characters we have been missing for three weeks are Carl and Rick, and then Michonne for the second season.

Carol is not the lead for the TWD spin-off?

Nah, if you backpage a bit there was a synopsis for casting purposes of what they were looking for as far as character sketches go. Doesn't mean she wouldn't be, but they keep saying they are going in a different direction with the spinoff...maybe a prequel.

My kids told me that there is a huge rumor that Darryl's character is actually gay and won't really have a love interest (at least a female love interest). Take it for what it's worth ... I will be ticked off about Carol being knocked off as well. I can't imagine losing her character ...

That gay rumor started when Kirkman was asked some roundabout question. He was being cagey with the response, and it kinda took off from there. I really wouldn't put too much into it. But...either way, I just don't want Carol to die. She continues to be the deepest character on the show, with an actual arc that mirrors what a REAL person might go thru in the situation. If they did kill her off, I would almost want it to be a suicide. Pointless, sure...but, once again, a completely understandable response to the conditions they are forced to live in.

Tyrese's sister is going to die and we are all going to be so broken up we cry until 2016.

Putting it out there...Kirkman keeps saying the death is a Game-Changer. Does Carol or Beth really feel like that to you? Carol has been dead man walking thru the whole half season. I say...Rick(Andrew Lincoln recently showed up fairly clean shaven...and he had a budding movie career before this), or...Tyreese. Kinda hit a apex arc wise. We will see tomorrow.

Did you guys see this?

Interesting episode on TWD. Not surprised actually. And Kirkman in Talking Dead summed up his and AMC's strategy: "people have to die in this apocalyptic world." So that's the out you're going to use Robert? Wow that is some weak a$$ sauce/excuse to kill off major characters ...

I'm not a Beth fan at all, but that was pretty sad.

I didn't get to watch with the east coast feed like usual, so I was trying to stay unspoiled. Sadly, the official Walking Dead Facebook page spoiled Beth's death for everyone who didn't watch it at 6. So dumb.

Best part of a very weak episode. Unkind to Beth, but my only thought was happiness that Carol slipped the noose. I find it disconcerting that they kill basically for dramatic effect and a sort of quota rather than to advance the story. I am also troubled that they spent a good amount of time last season and this developing Beth, almost purely to give her death meaning. It was an easy choice. Nobody will stop watching because Beth died. And it was handled very poorly. They wanted so badly to create this scenario but between cut rate Carla Gugino, Beth and the other hospital dwellers there was very little to care about there. The pace of the episode was ruined by the ENORMOUS amount of commercial breaks. I am curious to see what the actual running time was minus the post credits tag. The Facebook page snafu was a horrible breach as well. Just a giant step backwards for what was a fairly solid half season.
