All Things:AMC television

I'm loving Saul. TWD I'm watching by inertia at this point and will probably stop soon. The idea just can't be sustained for this long, really.

I'll probably stick until the end of this season of TWD, but I'm with everyone on the verge of quiting. The show's supposed unpredictability has become predictably tedious, especially when you have a blantanly obvious quota system. The Governor gave the show some legs, but now that he's gone I have come to realize how much I don't care for any of these people anymore. I'm not sure if TWD has always been this way, but recent eposides feel like some crap that would be on CBS. I agree with whoever said the level of directing on TWD is film school quality now. The gore has become tiresome, and that one random sex scene they had a few episodes ago made me roll my eyes instead of shocking me.

Preacher Script Finished; Is Astonishingly Good?

“It is astonishingly good, more so for being so different from the comic. But not in the way that it feels. It feels like ‘Preacher,’ and dammit, that’s all I actually want,” exclaimed Bleeding Cool** after reading the completed script for AMC’s upcoming adaptation of Preacher from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

**I’ve Just Read The Pilot Script To Preacher From AMC . And I Love It.

Watched Better Call Saul's first episode finally. Nice. Especially the b&w open @ the Cinnabon. Like the vestiges of humanity that he still has prior to becoming Saul Goodman. It's vaguely Breaking Bad-like, you can't ignore that birthright...but it has it's own flavor too. Michael McKean is always good, and Chuck's 'ailment' should get mined for some nice stuff. A little disappointed that they went right into Tuco like that, but it is what it is. Gotta hook the viewers and keep em coming back. I think the show has potential, but also...a shelf life. But hell, give me more Mike Ehrmantraut and maybe bring back The Chicken Man and a certain bell ringer, and you got my vote.

anyone watch The Walking Dead?

literally the only thing I can think about is whether or not Abraham is going to get infected after Sasha accidentally cut him with her zombie killing knife.

It'll probably be the slowest turn of all time.

I was confused when nobody died. They really shot the first half of the episode well. You could really feel how thirsty and worn down everyone was. I liked how they showed there were a few more dangers out there besides zombies and bad citizens. Kidnapped girl in the trunk was a nice touch of wrong as well. Tyrese's sister finally started being actually interesting, although I can't tell you her name yet.

Sasha. Yeah, the kidnapping victim was a nice little touch. And f'ing HORRIBLE when you think about it. The rest of the episode was a little long winded. Only thing I hope, is that all that sturm und drang has a payoff. Obviously they are about to be face to face with ANOTHER potential host/home. If it goes tits up from the get go that is gonna get a little samey. They kinda rushed into the 'meat' of things with Gareth and company. I want them to be faced with a new colony who might not be ideal, but this overall weariness they have gone to great lengths to establish, might force them to take the bad with the good. Build drama, some mystery...and then the twist. At least a few episodes of 'what is really going on here' might help to keep it from becoming another 'run awaaaaaay' lather rinse repeat situation.

The kidnapping victim was another reminder that some of the people are worse than the zombies. It was a bit much that it was Maggie who kept running into loose single zombies, but the episode was about her.

I could see the characters so weary and tired of travelling and the dangers that come with it that they fall in with an established settlement and let themselves not see that it is a little hinky, but from the promos, Rick is having none of that first guy.

It might be interesting for them to end up at an established place that is actually on the up and up for a while, incorrectly suspecting things are not right initially. A group like theirs showing up and turning out to actually be the eeeeevil ones would be one thing to do. A fully functional strong settlement would anchor the characters there, as they would have no reason to leave, and there are a lot more stories out in the world.

One other thing is that the exploring episodes tend to be a lot better than the hanging around a settlement episodes, although I like the exploring the deserted city episodes so much more than the wandering through the woods ones.

Saw all 3 episodes so far. Really solid with excellent pacing.

At this point the show is following the comics much more closely then I would like as I have read the comics. I really like it when they add stuff not in the comics at all such as the town of terminus or the Hospital in Atlanta.

Without spoiling too much the group getting to D.C. follows the comics very closely with just different details such as Terminus (not the actual cannibalism itself) and the community of Noah's family being tangents. The main different is the group is much bigger by this point in the TV show vs the comics. The comics have some brutal stuff and kill off people all the time.

I have not enjoyed this season as much as others specially after the great potential the first three epsiodes had at the beginning. This second half has started so slow and I really don't want the better part of this half season of them on the road. That would mean 24 episodes of them being on the road and it is just getting redundant at this point.

Touching on this it really feels forced that Aaron (and all that means) has finally arrived to meet them. I am not sure where they are headed actually. They have deviated enough from the comics for it to feel like they will head in different directions but I can't help but still feel they are killing off characters just to force the drama and get people to talk about it. Like jd I would to see them develop some drama. With the inevitable arrival of the next big heavy in the series it just feels like they are going to continue down the killing spree of main characters but maybe I am wrong. And as my wife always reminds me, "it is just a tv show and they don't go on forever." I could see them getting fully behind the LA-based spin-off and ending the original within a couple of years so people won't have the comic books to compare the story to. I still think Kirkman and AMC will kill the golden goose ...

HEAVY potential SPOILERS

Did Robert Kirkman Spoil A Major ?The Walking Dead? Death On A Comedy Show?
http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/02/robert-kirkman-spoils-a-major-the-walking-dead-death-on-a-comedy-show/

If you are in the know, they sure seem to be teasing the crap out of it, especially with the easter egg the other night. Maybe they are 'red herring-ing' everyone...who knows?
I highly doubt the red herring thought. Last summer I saw a TWD poster on-line that had Lucille in the foreground and Glen in the background. I only saw it once and then it disappeared off the net so I think they are teasing it hard. They seem to be salivating with that potential storyline and I am thinking that is the big reveal at the end of this season. If they go forward with that storyline they are going to p*ss a whole lot of viewers off ... you all know how I feel about Kirkman ...

Would be highly disappointed if they go the route of the comics pertaining to certain chatchters deaths. In actuallity they have done a better job for main character deaths diffeing from the comics to keep anybody from guessing what happens. For example in the comics Dale survives and eventually is bitten and eaten by the cannibals. Tyrese does at he prison attack sequence rather than in the housing complex. For me they did a pretty good job setting up the introduction of Michone and the prison after season 2 and really like the tv's shows version of the governor more than the comics. Just keep hoping they don't just follow the comics too much as that what keeps it interesting for me.

The Main Villain From ‘Better Call Saul’ Is Also A Callback To ‘Breaking Bad’
http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/02/the-ma...call-saul-is-also-a-callback-to-breaking-bad/

Have to say...after the first episode, I was ok with the show...but was lukewarm overall. After catching up with the 2nd/3rd I am really enjoying what is essentially Saul Goodman's origin story. Had to suspend a LOT of disbelief in the flashback scene with Chuck and Slippin Jimmy, but this show has the strength of two of the best overall characters from Breaking Bad. Saul and Mike the fixer. Their interactions are priceless. Mike the fixer is one of the best ever tv characters as far as I'm concerned. So yeah, i'm all in now.

Thought tonight's episode was better than the first two. Really showed Ricks mentality but also how much he respects the group and their opionions. Don't blame him for being extremely skeptical after almost being dinner at Terminus.
