SPOILERS
Mixed bag I thought. First off, watched in real time...and was surprised that the commercial breaks didn't seem any longer/more than usual. Thought the quality of commercials was higher than the normal show...like it was Super Bowl or something. Be curious to see what the billing was compared to a normal episode...
Anyway, the thing I had the most trouble with...Deanna's about face after the awkward accidental death of her husband(who was doomed the minute he was presented as a truly 'nice guy' in that scene with Bob and the scene with Maggie). I would have thought she would have almost had to show restraint because anything else makes her a hypocrite. Hopefully she will have remorse and be conflicted when they start back up again. The whole thing with Glen/Nicholas was sloppy too. How in the hell did Glen fend off those walkers with a bullet in his clavicle? After he told Maggie he loved her, and the way that whole thing played out, I thought he was a goner for sure. Sasha has become annoying. The whole crowdsurfing redeaded walkers was ridiculous. And The church turned into some sort of survivors guilt meeting. Not a terrible idea...just handled poorly. Like Father pain in the ass just leaving the gate open while Deanna's other stupid kid went to be irrelevant elsewhere. I did think that when she sent him to the church he was gonna get killed in some 'gun went off accidentally' mishap...and to Chain's thought...maybe it did.
On the plus side. Carol is just so badass. I am in love!!!!! She is 5 foot of Don'tMessWithMe. Kudos to Mellissa McBride for some terrific work with a character that should have been dead(but thank God she ain't) a long time ago. Abraham continues to be a quote generating machine. We need MORE of him. Was nice to see the reconcilliation between he and Eugene. Eugene nailing it with a wordy apology. Hard to stay mad at such an earnest and heartfelt confession.
So that's some thoughts. Not the best finale' as some are saying...but the season overall was one of the better ones. Sure it will play better as a whole...maybe eliminating some of the stop/start feel.
As far as the Wolves, who will clearly be the big bad next season. Clever idea, and their zombie food truck trap was brilliant...but they have to flesh em out some and have some consequences in order to distinguish them from the Governor's folks, Termites, etc.
Oh yeah...and finally!!!!! Morgan. Note to producers...if Lennie James wants to leave the show at any point, do not kill him. Give him a spin off where he basically goes all Grasshopper, 'walking the earth' with his bo staff and 'all life is valuable' zen attitude. Do not kill him off. He is already, in my mind, as untouchable as Carol/Darryl.
