All Things:Fx

Ok, so Danny Boyle's take on the Getty thing...Started on Sunday. First of all, visually luxuriant. TV has no right to look this good. Completely cinematic. And, Donald Sutherland, who I have learned to appreciate, is doing Emmy kind of stuff here. Regal, overbearing, sociopathic, and...strangely sad and charming. Heavy handed at times, but like I told Kingsqueen, it's like if Ryan Murphy stopped being a DRAG QUEEN, and actually buckled down and committed to trying to tell a story with subtlety. Didn't think I would like, but I trusted in Fx...and was mesmerized 20 minutes in. And...apparently it's a triumphant return for Brendan Fraser. So...help the poor guy out. WATCH THIS SCHTUFF!!!!!

Seriously...Trust may wind up being one of the most entertaining things I have seen this year. Took a chance after lackluster press and, for me at least, a real lack of interest. WHO KNEW how much I kinda missed Brendan Fraser? He plays a Texan like Woody in no Country by way of Fargo. And...hey, didn't you used to be Hillary Swank? The kid who plays JPG3 has been terrific and really should be in HAIR. Anyway, beautiful looking show. Watch!

Ok, Trust is STILL fabulous. Truly.

And I am going to need a hug after the Americans ends. It is setting up soooooooooooo badly for, well...everyone?

Oh man. TRUST was so devastatingly cruel...

I got around to watching the first ep and will continue with the series, but after reading more about this story, I can see that it's gonna get dark. Not quite ready for suck darkness just yet.

Speaking of dark and FX, anybody been watching the current season of Atlanta? There's still humor, BUT some episodes just get dark. I am enjoying the series, lol, but it's bumming me out. :(

Wow. It definitely subverted expectations. Solid ending to a show that, for me, never dropped in quality through six seasons. Rhys definitely deserves and Emmy, and Keri Russell should get no less than a nomination. I will miss the Jennings family. Like most series finales, there is room to revisit these characters in the future. I'm not sure it would be necessary, but I would welcome it all the same. If you have never watched, it's infinitely bingeable.
