THE JINX: Robert Durst Officially Charged With Susan Berman’s Murder
http://collider.com/the-jinx-robert-durst-murder-charge/

“Before the disappearance of my sister-in-law, Bob had a series of Alaskan Malamutes, which is like a husky,” Douglas Durst said. “He had seven of them, and they all died, mysteriously, of different things, within six months of his owning them. All of them named Igor. We don’t know how they died, and what happened to their bodies.
“In retrospect, I now believe he was practicing killing and disposing his wife with those dogs.”
What led him to that conclusion, Douglas said, was that Robert turned the word “Igor” into a verb and inflected it with a menace: “When he was in jail in Pennsylvania, he was recorded saying, ‘I want to Igor Douglas.’”

Ok, ****er has got to go...got to go.

and the charge carries the death penalty if they can prove the 'lying in wait' clause.

Dunno man...that doc made a strong case for an insanity plea at the very least. And the lawyers are already dropping beauties about the contacts(see above). Even with the letter, how can they prove he killed her. All the lawyers have to suggest is that he stopped by her house, found the body, and given his previous case of dismembering a body out of fear he would be blamed for the murder...well...there ya go. I know nothing about law and I have already poked holes. His attorneys are REALLY good.
As shocking as the finale' was I thought it was a little indulgent and the documentarian went out of his way to make himself part of the story. If I'm not mistaken that is a violation of the first rule of the medium. A lot of articles suggesting that they withheld evidence and there should be a follow up to the timeline/motivations. Is it purely coincidence that Durst was arrested on the same day as the finale airing???? There is more story to see here.

Wouldn't be a shock if he walked again, not a bit. I agree, the state is going to have to prove it!

He'll say he was visiting Susan and found her body lying there and decided to notify police by mail. He is a saint!

3 episodes in to Banshee.

Holy god, that fight between the native american girl and proctor's body guard!!!

Resisting the urge to read spoilers. May have to not post anymore until getting through the season.

This Is Rumored To Be The Plot Of ‘True Detective’ Season 2
http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/03/this-is-rumored-to-be-the-plot-of-true-detective-season-2/

It involves dead bodies, S&M, and RAILWAY SYSTEMS.

The season is due to kick off with the dead body of a corrupt politician being found along the Pacific Coast Highway with satanic symbols carved into his chest. California Highway Patrol officers Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are assigned the case. It turns out the victim is a known associate of Vince Vaughn’s character and this dead man had a dark side involving some associations with S&M clubs – but perhaps most importantly, the man was in the middle of brokering a big deal that would solve the state’s gridlock problem. (Via)

Vaughn’s character is described as a “career criminal” who wants to go legitimate by getting involved with a “high-speed railway system for California,” while Rachel McAdams is a sheriff “who has a different set of ethics” than the corrupt Farrell and recovering Kitsch.

This is all info that has already been put out there. The article just puts it all together. Definitely going to be in the Chinatown vein. Probably VERY different from s1.

Just blew through The Jinx in like two days, wow. Having known nothing about the case or Robert Durst in advance, other than some vague memory of Letterman making fun of him for being busted shoplifting a hoagie when wanted for murder, it was quite the ride. I think they could probably have trimmed an episode just to make it tighter, felt like it was repeating itself at times and I wasn't a fan of the documentarians making themselves the focus of the show towards the end, but I can't argue with that final payoff. Just wow.

Since I didn't know anything about it, early on when they did the "10 years later" after being busted the first time and he was free I had assumed he at least served some time for manslaughter and dismemberment or something. It never crossed my mind that he would walk. The lawyers made an excellent case though, but man... getting off the hook completely, that kind of blew my mind. And no one thought to compare the handwriting of the anonymous note to the handwriting of the primary suspect of the case the victim was being interviewed for? Also infuriating was how no one had questioned the doorman in the first case, or interviewed his neighbors, or searched his house and so on. And now the guy is so old that even if he's being convicted, which he might not be, the lawyers will probably find a way to drag the thing out until he's dead of old age. Crazy to think that had they not found that note, which seemingly was found just by chance, he'd still be getting away with it despite clearly having a case of hubris and doing whatever the hell he wanted at any point.

Well well.. enjoyed the show quite a bit and hopefully there will be justice, as much justice as there can be at this point which admittedly isn't much.

He actually did serve time for bail jumping and evidence tampering related to the Texas murder case. I think he was sentenced to 5 years and serve around three. It just wasn't part of the murder trial.

Glad to hear it, I guess the show didn't make it clear enough or maybe I just missed it. Still pretty minor in the grand scheme of things though.

The Timeline For ‘The Jinx’ Might Be Even More Flawed Than We Thought
http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/03/the-timeline-for-the-jinx-might-be-even-more-flawed-than-we-thought/

But now BuzzFeed has found even more holes in the story.

A source close to The Jinx production told BuzzFeed News that the first set of Durst interviews was filmed in Los Angeles in mid-December 2010 over a few days. In the phone calls we hear between Jarecki and Durst trying to schedule the second sit-down, they mention dates in October and November, and we then see a wall calendar for the month of January. So this haggling seems to be taking place in fall 2011 and winter 2012. That would appear to indicate that Sareb Kaufman, Berman’s surrogate son who discovered the “Beverley” envelope from Durst to Berman, found it between late December in 2010 and early fall of 2011. Although it should be noted that during these scenes in which Durst is being elusive, Jarecki does not specifically mention the envelope; he refers to “everything we’ve learned in the meantime.” The filmmakers do consult with forensic handwriting analyst John Osborn on camera, and show him the envelope — but it’s impossible to figure out when any of these events took place. Kaufman did not return a phone call to his office nor a Facebook message from BuzzFeed News asking when he had found the envelope; Osborn told BuzzFeed News, much like Jarecki and Smerling, that because he is a potential witness, he could not answer any questions.

BuzzFeed posits that if the envelope with Durst’s handwriting and misspelling of “Beverley”, this case’s smoking gun, was found in 2010, that means Jarecki and company held onto it for years before giving it to law enforcement. There is also some question regarding when Durst trespassed near his brother Douglas’s home. In the show, they refer to this as occurring weeks after filming, but filming ended in 2012 and he was arrested in 2013, over a year later.

New TV Series From George R. R. Martin in Development at HBO
http://collider.com/george-r-r-martin-new-series-hbo/

I know, A Song of Ice and Fire readers — your first thought after the news of George R. R. Martin developing a new series is surely: “what?! I thought GRRM was taking some serious time to finish up Winds of Winter!” Apparently the possible series — called Captain Cosmos — won’t be a major time commitment for Martin (who has an overall development deal with HBO).

According to THR,

[The series] centers on a young sci-fi writer living in 1949 at the dawn of the age of TV. The writer spends his time penning stories no one else would dare to write.

Michael Casutt (Z Nation) is writing the pilot, so it looks like Martin won’t be directly involved in the series (as far as writing goes, at least so far). The material, too, is clearly vastly different from that of Game of Thrones, so it will be really interesting to get another facet of Martin’s world-building through it.

Does the protagonist wear a Cap'n & Tennille hat by any chance?
