It's on Friday, which if I can recall is traditionally a day spent in Hall H anyway. I think that we are going to see a lot of shows bump up to the bigs(Game of Thrones PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE) due to Disney and by extension Marvel holding off on promoting too much due to their Disney convention a few months away. Add to that no Dark Knight rises and I think we have the makings of a really low key SDCC this year. Not necessarily a bad thing but there are those that will gripe no doubt.
 
Comic-Con 2012: Hall H Movie Studios Include Marvel, Disney, Sony and Lionsgate-Summit

So which movie studios are no-shows? Variety is reporting that Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Relativity Media, DreamWorks and DreamWorks Animation are all skipping out on Hall H this year. Universal hasn’t confirmed one way or the other. Here’s what we do expect to see:

Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013)
Disney:

Wreck-It Ralph (November 2, 2012)
Oz: The Great and Powerful (March 8, 2013)
Warner Bros.:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 14, 2012)
Man of Steel (June 14, 2013)
Legendary Pictures (w/ Warner Bros. as distributors):

Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim (July 12, 2013) – unconfirmed
Sony (all unconfirmed):

Total Recall (August 3, 2012)
Premium Rush (August 24, 2012)
Kevin James’ martial-arts comedy, Here Comes the Boom (October 12, 2012)
Will Smith in M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth (June 7, 2013)
Lionsgate/Summit:

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (November 16, 2012)
The Expendables 2 (August 17, 2012)
Dredd (September 21, 2012) – unconfirmed
If Universal decides to turn up, we could see something from R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds in a June 28th, 2013 release. The studio could also showcase The Bourne Legacy (August 3, 2012) and 47 Ronin (February 8, 2013).

If Paramount decides to show, we could see (emphasis on the “could”) something new, perhaps, from G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which was pushed back to a March 29th, 2013 opening date, owing to reshoots, 3D post-conversion and a Channing Tatum infusion. Equally plagued and hungry for a dose of good PR is the Brad Pitt-starrer, World War Z (June 21, 2013). If Paramount doesn’t show, don’t expect to see any glimpses of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (January 11, 2013), Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (December 21, 2012) or, disappointingly, anything from Star Trek 2 (May 17, 2013).

Comic-Con 2012 TV Panel Round-Up: GLEE, FRINGE, ARROW, FAMILY GUY, SONS OF ANARCHY and More

With Comic-Con 2012 just around the corner, word is starting to leak out about what movies and TV shows will/won’t be making an appearance. We have a good idea of the film panel slate in Hall H, and now official word regarding TV panels is trickling down. As a quick reference guide, we’ve rounded up the TV panels that have been confirmed thus far in one easy article. Briefly:

Thursday – MAD, Nikita
Friday – The Big Bang Theory, Arrow, Bones, Childrens Hospital, Cult, 666 Park Avenue, Brickleberry, Bob’s Burgers, The Venture Bros, NTSF:SD:SUV, Robot Chicken, Black Dynamite Saturday – Glee, The Vampire Diaries, Revolution, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Person of Interest, Futurama, The Following
Sunday – Fringe, Sons of Anarchy, Supernatural, DC Nation, The Cleveland Show Hit the jump for more details, including which actors will be in attendance and where the panels will take place. Comic-Con 2012 will run from July 11 – July 15.

Before the actual panels take place, there will be pilot screenings for Arrow, Revolution, The Following, Cult and 666 Park Avenue in Ballroom 20 on Wednesday night. This is only a partial list, as we should also expect panels for Game of Thrones, True Blood, The Walking Dead, etc. Though it’d never happen in a million years, I would be at a panel for HBO’s Girls in a heartbeat. To hear Lena Dunham and co. talk about the twistedly hilarious situations that must have inspired some of the show’s scenes/storylines would be incredibly entertaining. Alas, that’s about as likely as getting Christopher Nolan to bring The Dark Knight Rises to Comic-Con.
