All Things:THEME PARKS

They're gonna need a cantina, a Millenium Falcon, maybe an X-Wing or Snowspeeder ride, and whatever-tie ins from the new movie.

Star Wars-Themed Lands Coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts

Looks amazing!

Too bad they wont start construction until late 2017, so the absolute earliest that it will open is 2020. (going off the Carsland construction timeline) Sigh. Really wish Disney was as efficient as Universal when it comes to construction.

Oh, and I cringe at the thought of just how much my Annual Pass will be when Star Wars Land opens.

I'm only half kidding.

Our Disneyland AP's expire on the 25th of this month. This year we stepped up to the Premium so we could enjoy no blackout days, and Saturdays. I haven't been able to tell if we did go more than last year when we only had the SoCal tier pass. We also thought that Saturday's would be less crowded due to the other AP's being blacked out (I know Deluxe is valid on many Saturdays), but we really didn't find that to be the case over all.

We just had a daughter 7 weeks ago and are debating if we should renew our passes. The one advantage to renewing would be keeping our "legacy" status, meaning we could renew at the SoCal level since we previously had that pass (and they aren't selling that level anymore) as well as being able to add parking. However if we don't renew before the 25th, we lose our legacy status and won't be able to purchase a new SoCal pass, nor add parking.

For those with little ones, was it a royal pain in the rear bringing a few month old baby to the park? I know she won't remember squat at this age obviously, but it would be something we could go do on Sunday mornings or evenings as a nice way to get out of the pad. Also, my wife wasn't able to go on any of the faster rides due to being pregnant since November of 2014 up until July of 2015. We haven't been to DL since about a week or so before our daughter was born (July 15th) so we are both jonzing to go, lol.

The first few months were hard because we had a stroller that used an adapter for the car seat. It was huge and hard to get on the tram. Plus between keeping formula, diapers, et al, it became a chore. The 1-1.5 hour car ride there and back didn't help either. But I know plenty of people who had no trouble taking their kids the first 6 months of their life all the time. I might just be a complainer.

My kids are 3 and 1 now, and aside from running around chasing them it's a lot of fun seeing how excited they get.

Thanks for the input.

We have one of those styles of strollers too, but we are looking to get a smaller one in the very near future. One that isn't bare bones, but isn't full on SUV status either. We live in Long Beach, so it is about a 30 minute drive for us and she does fine in the car seat. I'm sure it will be kind of hectic the first couple of times but maybe we will get the hang of it?

Ah gotcha. I live in west hills, so is significantly farther. It is a little hectic, but there are some pictures with characters we took that I look back on now and really enjoy. And I know in 20 years I'll love them even more.

Go to any store and ask for a pin for your kid's first time. They'll write his/her name on one and give it to you. A nice commemorative gift (we went in the one right outside the shooting gallery in frontierland).

Also, if you're bringing the stroller, go to the very front car of the tram from the parking lot. They have extended size cars in front that you can take the stroller on (usually without having to fold up). They'll make you take the kid out and hold him/her, but small price to pay as it's much more convenient. And every time the tram worker has helped me lift the stroller onto it.

Some pictures I took at the "Launch Bay" and out between Star Tours and Astro Blasters.

Hyperspace Mountain is pretty damned cool, and the new Start Tours scenes are good, too.

As much as I love Star Wars I'm not a huge fan of it going into the original park. It sucks that they are destroying some of the original areas of the park to make way for the new land. What bothers me even more about this is how they continue to neglect Tomorrowland and threw a temporary Star Wars re-skin over it until SWL is complete. The People Mover (more recently Rocket Rods, but will always be People Mover tracks to me) tracks have sat vacant since the year 2000, 15 years!!!
