David O. Russell Loses the Map to Drake’s Fortune | CHUD.com

El Mayimbe of Latino Review says directors bail in 3s…so while we wait for that elusive third helmer to bail on something big, you can read this one!

According to Variety, David O. Russell has left Drake’s Fortune over “creative differences.” There are no further details at this time, so we don’t know if the tenative and unpopular cast — led by Mark Wahlberg — leaves with him.

Russell was an incredibly contentious choice for director. Fans of the Uncharted series have been screaming about him for months, while fans of The Fighter pointed it was David O. goddamn Russell, and he deserved the benefit of the doubt. Even if that meant Mark Wahlberg, and a strange father/son/uncle dynamic with Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci.

It never did seem to fit right, though, even if you’re a big fan of Russell and wanted to see him tackle something geeky and genre oriented. This feels like the inevitable outcome.

Maybe Nathan Fillion will get to read for the part this time.

I think most people want to forget that Mario Brothers movie! :pssst:

I wouldn't mind forgetting that Street Fighter movie either! cry:

Does no one realize where these movies originate from??? VIDEO GAME movies...Shakespeare it ain't.

Pretty sure Hoskins cashed all those checks.

I've always wanted a Zelda movie. Lord of the Rings style. Unfortunately, if they did ever make one it'd probably end up like the Super Mario Bros. movie. I've still yet to see a good video game movie.

I remember enjoying the **** out of Mario Brothers. I was pilled up/drinking Jack/and smoking copious amounts of weed...but still.

I am staring to think that JD is a stoner. :smoke:

That explains why he defends some bad movies as being so bad that they are good, lol! ;)

Ahhh...I was in my high school daze. Now I occasionally dabble. By the way, I highly recommend the Blue Meanie Vapourizer, sure you have to buy an outlet converter, because it is a UK product...

But I only dabble:puff::yo::wink2:

Sometimes really bad movies can be really good. Con Air for example or have you seen The Specialist?

I have watched Con Air, but not The Specialist. The one bad movie that I have been told to watch is showgirls, lol!

Dunno, but the only video game movie that I have seen that I thought was halfway decent was Silent Hill. Maybe, had I been drunk while watching the Mortal Kombat movies, I might have enjoyed those. Maybe.

The Specialist is more fun than Showgirls IMO.
