All Things:Video Game Movies

Sony Takes Screen Rights to ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Video Game Series | /Film

Looks like Sony has won the dubious honor of being able to produce and distribute a film based on the UbiSoft video game series Assassin’s Creed.

The games feature a lot of running along rooftops, pushing through crowds and tracking powerful targets before driving a knife in their back. There’s even a sci-fi component as the bulk of the action in each game is actually the recreation of ancestral memories buried within a guy who is related to the line of assassins the player controls in the series. The presentation in each game is undeniably cinematic, but as with most games the action doesn’t directly translate to cinema. But there is a story there that could be adapted into a movie, and one that would make sense in context with the various Assassin’s Creed game titles.

Have not played this but there certainly looks like there is enough to stretch into a decent movie.

Hahaha. I remember a Rampage reference in Married with Children were Al Bundy says sometimes along the line of back in my day we had pinball machines and now there's videogames. What do I care if a monkey can climb to the top of a building. mhihi:

Weren't they supposed to make a God of War movie? I remember hearing about it around the time God of War 2 came out.

I know I could just do a quick Google search, but I'm adding to the discussion while giving jerseydevil something to dig up.

Rampage was/is my favorite arcade game.

If they make it ridiculous/crazy/over the top... it could be wonderful.

In fact, yeah, give it to the Crank guys, please!
