Fire coach!

Correct. Kings were actually playing a very competitive 1st period until Talbot let in that softy. Then he misplays the puck shot behind his net and it handcuffs Doughty who was not expecting him to touch it and leads to a turnover and a goal. 3rd goal was a shot going wide to the left of the net if Talbot doesn’t touch it. I mean there was just no reason for it. Even if he does stop that shot with his blocker it’s going to create a fat rebound in the slot at the feet of an Avs forward. 2.5 of those goals are directly his fault.

I can’t hang the entire loss on Talbot but he was abysmal. He completely undermined the team’s effort to play a structured defensive game last night. So how can anyone say the system isn’t working or the team doesn’t care when one player puts you behind the 8 ball? Makes no sense.
I didn’t notice his role in the second goal but makes it that much worse. Seems Todd has to gamble on Rittich now for the last two before the break.

Nothing can be done about the current roster with some of these horrible contracts. The ONLY move Blake can make is to replace the coach. He doesn't have any other options at this point. No chance he makes any moves at the trade deadline that would have an impact, unless he settles for selling a lot of pieces for cheap, and completely giving up on this season and probably the next two, and wait until Kopitar and Doughty are done.

anyone that doesn't think Vegas wouldn't fire Cassidy in a hot second if they thought it would improve their chances to repeat is a fool. That organization has made it clear from day 1 what they value and everyone there seems to be on board with it.

As for Blake, available options include
Berube
Colliton
Evason
Gallant
Granato (if health allows)
Sturm
Sutter
Woodcroft

I don't think he'd go as far back as Hartley and try and pull him back from the KHL. The other clues would have to be from his time in the Hockey Canada which is where I believe he met Willie D and became a fan of his. Personally if you think the Toddfather should be out, get ready for Coach Sturm since that's the most likely scenario. There's no chance that Wroblewski or Stothers could be on the table.
You forgot Bill Belichick...

I'll replace the coach with a grilled cheese at this point. Mmmm, grilled cheese. :homer:

I can think of three that I want off this roster and two of them are causing us to make a revolving door in the penalty box...and the lesser salaried one has to go to arbitration...and he sucks almost as much as the two higher salaries players... The first two getting off the roster will be a miracle in itself...but we could land a draft pick with the third and have him go through arbitration with his new team...

Fiala
PLD
JAD (change of scenery will do him well)

I don't want to get rid of Grunderstruck yet...but he's more of a defensive forward and the goals from him are a bonus... It seems that the less he's noticed...the better he plays...

If Buck Flake can't get rid of the cancers in the room...he doesn't deserve to be GM...

Also fire TMuck...

Even if he isn't the primary fault I agree that TM needs to go. As the old saying goes it's a lot easier to change the coach then the players. Just going with an assistant won't cut it. They need someone from the outside. My concern is the same thing might happen as it likely did with Willie. I suspect that Anshutz told Blake I ain't paying another big salary for yet another coach.

Who will win their next playoff game, The Kings or the Ducks?
Sadly, I think within 3-5 years, the Ducks will be better than the Kongs. They have probably done a better job drafting and throwing kids into the mix right away. Mixed results obviously but a ton of talent in the system.

you're probably right,

Its too late now. Train started going in the wrong direction and just kept picking up steam. He should have been fired after the Florida game. Even though the boys were competing at the time, it was their 7th loss in a row and definitely felt like "the time."

Something happened on that New York trip. 100% different team since the 3rd period of that Islanders game.

I just don't get it. How do you go from 20-7-5 to 22-15-10 or whatever our abysmal record is now and still hang onto a coach? The PLD contract was the beginning of the end for Flake's tenure as GM. It will be our 11th year in a row without a playoff series win. Sad, pathetic, but true.

The fans of this team deserve so much better.
