Goodbye Silver Jerseys...at least for this season. New third jersey on the way

The only good thing I can say about these jerseys... when the Kings wear them for home games, the road teams will wear their brightly colored, well-designed home or third jerseys. We won't have to look at one team in black and one team in white for many of those 11 home games.

All the options the Kings 'Brain Trust' had, and this is what they came up with? And someone was actually paid for this great idea?

"I know, let's go with the Gretzky-era 90's jersey...but with more sparkle!"

"Brilliant!"
"Splendid!"
"Sassy!"
"They're so shiny!"
"How clever!"
"You're a genius!"

Except for the silver glitter, it's the exact same jersey.

Wow.

As an organization, the Kings are beginning to worry me...

Not entirely. The whole lower arm band is black, the numbers were previously in the arm band striping and are now up higher on the shoulder. Chevron is larger as well and I believe more metallic silver. Yes, the colors are basically the same as intended but it does look very different overall to me.

Now that I look at it, the socks are the only really new thing to me. Not sure I've really noticed only a dual stripe pattern on a sock before. I might go for a pair of them to change it up.

Beginning to worry you?

Nothing says heavy and tough to play against like more silver sparkle.

I still stand by my China knockoff comments. Maybe Wish is moving from Lakers sponsor to Kings because this looks like the Wish.com version of the 1990s jerseys. It is the same, only a little bit worse.

I'm both kind of horrified and intrigued by what a wish bobblehead of Iafallo would look like

I have a question... only curious so I can finally understand...

Why do people call the Gretzky-era jersey with this crest a "chevron"?

When it was introduced in 1989, everyone said the crest looked like the Chevrolet "bowtie" emblem. Hence it instantly became known as the "Chevy" jersey.

This shape is a chevron "^". So that can't be the derivation of the alternative name. Does the chevron appellation have anything to do with the oil company's signage?

Thanks for whatever insights are shared.

It probably morphed over the years and nobody has corrected it. It was definitely more the Chevy logo but not exact of course. Not even close to Chevron.

These sparkly jerseys are going to look sick with my bedazzled trucker hat and my Affliction jeans /sarcasm. Why don't they just bring back the reverse retros? Everybody loves those jerseys and they would sell tons of them. I think I'm just going to make knock-off reverse retros and make a mint.

Because they can't. RR program was a league wide promotion. There will likely be a new RR in 2022-2023 season.

Oh, I had forgotten about the testing of the goal lights. I always loved that for some reason. Probably because it was the only time we got to see them light up when we weren't being scored against, lol

While listening to the games on the radio (yes, home games were never televised) you could reasonably guess to the attendance of the game if you could hear that low "drone" sound of the goal judge light. If Philly or Montreal were in town it was almost always a sell-out and the crown buzz would drowned it out. There was a certain excitement to it....the crowd noise on a goal will be loud. Ah....the good ol' days.

****. It has been so long since I've felt the urge to get an Kings merchandise and trust me, I have looked. I'm excited for the season and want something new but our look right now is soooooooooo boring. It's either going back to the chevy logo or the boring home plate. And really, it's not that hard. Take the original crown, make it silver and put it on a jersey that has some color, preferably purple. It doesn't have to over power you, just a middle ground between the current look at the pre-Gretzky jerseys.

Purple just isn't going to happen unless it's a 4th jersey like reverse retro. That being said, the Kings did do quite a bit of retro color/logo merch for the 50th but sadly, most of that has disappeared. I believe 99% of what is in teamla inside Staples or available on fantics is black/white/grey/silver unless it's hockey fights cancer or reverse retro related.

I guess it could be worse and we could get a bunch of hats that look like this:
