Confirmed with Link Kings name Holland their 10th GM in History

It’s going to cost a young player like Laf, Spence or Liam Greentree to trade any of those players.

I don't mind Spence being shipped away but Greentree and even Ferry are not to be expended for those types of players. If it does indeed involve Spence, then maybe yes, but Greentree and/or Ferry? Pass.

In the Mark Yannetti interview that just dropped today, he mentions the Kings project Liam Greentree as a future Top 6 player with the possibility of being a 1st liner. He also mentions that all 4 draft picks from the 2024 draft realistically project as potential NHL players with lots of praise for Carter George and Jared Wooley.

The strength of the 2024 draft class could allow Holland the confidence to deal some of the older prospects in trades.

An hour with Yannetti. Must listen as always.

Before the Kings hired Holland and also prior to him taking the Islanders job, I wanted Mathieu Darche to be Rob Blake's replacement as General Manager of the Kings for the long-term, but one of the many interesting things Yannetti noted in the interview was that Holland was brought in with a short-term focus towards building the team, which obviously means that his priority is to shape the roster to get the team over the hump in Stanley Cup contention in the near to immediate future, so we should expect trades and free agent signings with that aim in mind.

I mean I guess it was readily apparent, but it was nice to hear it confirmed in a public statement by a notable member of the organization so as to leave no doubt on the matter. Whether Holland can pull it off remains to be seen.

Your last sentence is the key. The next few days will be very interesting, I have no doubt that there is a lot going on right now but whether they will come to fruition is another story. I'd be really disappointed if the moves made are not the kind to get us over the hump.

Interesting development. I wonder if moving Turcotte is about making room in the bottom 6 for more size and playoff experience.
Maybe? Or is it just a "hey, we will listen and do it if the price is right" kinda thing? This is the first I've heard his name mentioned at all around trade talks.

The last KOTP was hilarious. I’m not a Hoven hater, but this is a guy who said there was a deal in place for Gavrikov that would be signed in April. He admitted to this on the last show, but the best part was his backpedaling on Marner.

Suddenly now he’s talking how the Kings aren’t just one player away (a big admission from him.) He also downplayed “getting a 100 pt player” when the team needs more players like Dustin Brown, Shane Doan, and even Jeremy Roenick (ha). This after weeks of practically announcing for the team Marner would be a King. I think word got to him Marner is going to Vegas.

As for interest in Turcotte, I believe it because that’s a great contract. In fact it’s exactly the kind of player Vegas needs to fill out their roster. Would they flip Hague over for Turcotte? Because that works.

Spot on. This is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Hoven’s rumor mongering. He gets fed some info, reports it uncritically, reputable insiders refute it in some fashion and he backtracks/distances himself from his original “reporting.” Or if the rumor ends up coming to fruition he loudly celebrates.

And all that is ok really. Just gotta accept that he’s a mouthpiece and not a journalist which is fine by me. I’ll still listen to almost every episode of the podcast. lol.

That’s his whole game right there. But give him credit. He doesn’t miss on helmet sponsors.

I still listen to him too, ha. When he just spitballs his own takes, it can be interesting. Bernstein has always been unbiased about the team. It’s entertaining. Bannermen have really become my favorite Kings pod, though. To me they come off like the smartest, no bs posts I read on here.

They're not relying on "access," so they're not beholden to the organization in any way. They're free to be pissed off and second-guess management and the coach, which is exactly what we do here.
