Last Movie Watched

Watched this last night.

I'm still pretty underexposed to Ozu movies, so I was happy to see this show up on TMC. It's a cute family-friendly movie (mostly) about a couple of kids who decide to stop speaking to anyone until their parents buy a TV. There's some good funny bits, including a running fart joke. It was an enjoyable watch, but I doubt I'd buy it. It seems like the kind of movie that an entire family would go see together in 60's Japan.

Beyond that, it's an interesting style. There's pretty much no camera movement whatsoever and the colors are interesting. There's also a pretty obvious message underneath about a number of social issues, although handled well so as not to be heavy handed, including the coming of technology and the way people interact with each other socially, but all that was probably a lot more relevant back then than it is now.

Worth a rent, for sure.

watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 right now

oh my word is this movie boring. don't know if I'll make it through it

Watched "Love and Other Drugs" tonight. Pretty good. Anne Hathway = fantastic.

My wife and I went to see The Priest 3D.It was good in some parts of the movie and actually in 3D.Not as scary or gory than I thought it would be.

Good, but not great revenge western. There are parts where Gregory Peck is all badass and taking charge and other parts where he... isn't. Lee Van Cleef has a supporting role. Only recommended if you're a fan of Gregory Peck or westerns in general. There wasn't a whole lot that stood out.

How to Train Your Dragon - Cute flick. I enjoyed it.

Easy A - Had its moments, but overall, it sucked.

Primer.jpg

I think this movie is very underrated, Primer is a smart and original film about time travel. THis is one of those movies that gets better the more times you watch it because it's hard to absorb everything in one sitting. Outstanding movie, especially considering how low-budget it was.

Sweet ****ing christ, I LOVED this. So violent and funny. Blu.-Ray purchase for sure.

Really violent and ****ed up. Liked it quite a bit. Wonder if it will ever get released out here...

Liked this quite a bit. The cinematography was impressive as hell, especially during the chase scene in the sewers.

Believe it or not, I'd never seen this before. Thought it had it's moments, and I can appreciate the effect it's had, but I didn't care that much for it. The little girl was the best part.

Enjoyable.

I bought this at a Hollywood Video that was going out of business because I like the movie Tampopo by the same director and it had quotes all over it from Leonard Maltin, The NY Times and stuff saying how great it was. I thought it was ok. Had some funny bits and an interesting story that kept my attention, but wasn't as good as I'd been hoping and expecting.

Amazingly powerful film. One of the best portrayals of deep-rooted hatred between people in the Middle East. This movie will stay with you long after you've watched it.

Been hearing a lot of good things about this one. The director just got a high-profile gig(can't remember what it was, sorry) based on just how good this movie is.

Enjoyable and pretty funny at times, but I can see why the reviews were a little disappointing. Certainly nowhere near as awesome as I would have expected from these two if I hadn't had my expectations already tempered.

Extra points for a lot of cool cameos.

Solid prison escape movie with a good cast. Nothing special, but a good watch.

"Stray Cat Rock: Machine Animal". One of the 5 Stray Cat Rock movies, the series that made Meiko Kaji a star in Japan in the 70's. Relatively enjoyable, but nothing special. For all the badass poses you get to see Meiko Kaji do in all the press materials for this movie, she does very little badass stuff in the movie itself. So it was disappointing in that respect.
