PJ Harvey is God
Watched this last night.
I'm still pretty underexposed to Ozu movies, so I was happy to see this show up on TMC. It's a cute family-friendly movie (mostly) about a couple of kids who decide to stop speaking to anyone until their parents buy a TV. There's some good funny bits, including a running fart joke. It was an enjoyable watch, but I doubt I'd buy it. It seems like the kind of movie that an entire family would go see together in 60's Japan.
Beyond that, it's an interesting style. There's pretty much no camera movement whatsoever and the colors are interesting. There's also a pretty obvious message underneath about a number of social issues, although handled well so as not to be heavy handed, including the coming of technology and the way people interact with each other socially, but all that was probably a lot more relevant back then than it is now.
Worth a rent, for sure.
