Has anyone spotted a Copley Kings jersey at the (formerly) Stape yet?

Here ya go! (I have never heard of this seller, your results may vary.)

I don't know ...
Maybe you should try squatting on your legs for a full season.
Then trying to hit and be a team mate.
FYI, that does not include playoffs.

Just joking?...

Yup, I think it's a joke.

I'm a lifelong athlete, played many sports. I take nothing away from catchers, yet, comparing the intensity as one in the same to an ice hockey netminder? Not even close.

So who had correctly guessed the Copley era would begin 9-1 through his first 10 starts? Cause I hope you are buying up some Mega Millions tickets right now...

At first, I thought Copley might be Rick Knickle 2.0, as in providing decent goaltending when even average goaltending was hard to come by (as was the case in the middle of the '93 season with both Hrudey and Stauber being atrocious).
Now, it seems Copley is at least Felix Potvin 2.0, as in providing good goaltending to help stabilize and propel the Kings on a playoff run (like 2001, obviously that has yet to be seen).
Then, there's another possibility, which is he becomes Tim Thomas 2.0, as in a goaltender who only finds NHL success after 30 and ultimately wins a Cup. There's a LOT that has to happen for that to come to pass, but it's a possibility.

I dont think hes close to the previous 29 in goal, but he's definitely getting the job done. He beats Colorado instead of just taking them to game 7 and we can talk.

Fair enough. He's one some games, but has yet to perform in the playoffs (as Potvin did), so we'll see!

Copley has stabilized the position, but he's only okay when compared to the league average. 14th overall in GAA but 30th in SV%.

I saw someone else mention if we make the playoffs Quick will be rested by then.. yeah right. Copley plays if he helps drags us into the playoffs. And I'm a mega Quick fan.

And what's his league ranking in wins since he came in?

Foxy mentioned it in the broadcast. An inconsistent team - the first thing he looks at is the goaltender. Copley settled the entire team down, and continues to do so. Quick and Cal were fumbling all over the ice. Copley is cool as a cucumber.

Team is fun right now. D is not as bad as it was led to believe. I've seen Roy play pretty amazing since Copley came in. The shots blocked is what, #1 right now, since he came in as well? Whole team is buying in to his stabilization of the position.

Pre-Copley it seemed every defensive mistake and/or outnumbered attack ended up in the net. Wasn't that bad of course, but some nights seemed like it. With Copley the defense has gained confidence knowing a mistake won't inevitably find the net. Said it in another thread, the Kings can win with average goaltending which is exactly what they are getting with Copley.

I think the disparity between goals saved above expected between beginning of the season and Copleys first start til now is probably the most telling stat of all during this run

Wasn't Felix 39? Am I remembering that wrong?

Agree with this, and I think what TMac said after the Edmonton win explains the intangibles that stable goaltending brings. Thought this quote deserved a repeat outside the GDT because it's spot on.

"McLellan on the Kings being willing to do the necessary things to get victories:
There are good teams that never go anywhere because they don’t quite get everybody willing to do things that they don’t want to do. Sometimes average teams go a little bit further along because they do get players to do things they don’t want to do. That could be giving up ice time, that could be blocking a shot, that could be a scrap, a fight, taking care of a teammate, sacrificing offense to check at a certain time, game management. All those things that you throw in a bucket and you just take for granted, players don’t always want to do that. They want to go bardown and make sweet plays, all the adjectives that they use, but sometimes just getting them to do the things they don’t want to do can point you in the right direction at least."
