I don't think that JQ would ever be sent down to Ontario. JMO, but I think that his legacy with the LA Kings and respect for him would prevent that from ever happening. I would not be surprised to see him go on IR possibly for a short time for a "rehabbing" of a persistent injury of some kind. Then maybe bring Petersen back up or even give Villalta a look see.

Quick will NEVAH - EVAH be sent to Ontario. That’s a total slap in the mask to an all time King.

I’m sure there’s dialogue. Blake & Luc have a system & I agree with everything they’ve done. I’m
Sure Blake saw what Dean’s blind loyalty did (and is still paying for)

I think that's right, JQ will not be sent down. IR seems the only other option. Bring Cal up to play on back to backs, see if he's exorcised his demons.

I believe there are league-mandated consequences for "hiding" a player on IR. Loss of draft picks comes to mind.

The Kings should just waive JQ. It's not like anyone is going to pick him up. Although there might be some prankster GM with nothing to lose out there and if does happen it would be helluva awkward lol...

Not a real limb to go on here but if Hossa can get LTIR, anyone can get LTIR. I don't think thats a solution that Blake needs to utilize.... yet

Waiving quick only frees up 1 million. If he retires mid season im not sure what happens to his cap hit but there would be a small recapture that should apply to next seaaon i think. Id have to look but his might be the last contract in the league where it could be applied.

But how do they carry FOUR goaltenders? It's kind of an absurd possibility. Im not saying you're wrong, but between the need to better align the defense, pick up some size, and with Cal down in Ontario... how do you prioritize this? I think Blake definitely has to have some options ready, but im not sure you make that decision on a backup until the very last minute. If Copley is still going strong at the deadline, im probably letting that ride. But I agree it would be disastrous to see the team miss teh playoffs or bow out in teh first round due to abysmal goaltending.

I don't think they can carry four. Blake will need to make some hard decisions very soon.

other than using assets to package a guy like Cal, his options are quite limited. he's stated in the past he wouldn't trade away the core guys because they've earned it. Copley is the only goalie of merit right now. And you're trying to fill a big need at LD. I really think they leave Cal in Ontario, Quick stays with the team, and they hope Copley can carry them through the remainder of the season. Like i said earlier, if Copley falls off here before the deadline, that changes things... but the sheer size of orchestrating a trade for cal and a new goalie along with fixing LD just seems like maybe too much to accomplish at one deadline.

Don't much follow the Reign, last report I recall was Cal had a decent start. Guess the demons remain.

He had a pretty rough game against the team in Palm Springs a couple weeks ago. He's not been stellar which is quite concerning. I don't think this is doing anything to help his confidence.

I haven't watched a single ontario game to know, but when he was originally sent down, I didn't want him back up until March. Concerning would be calling him back up because Copley is faltering. Ballsy would be bringing him back up when he isn't. I don't wish bad things on Copley, but a head straightened out Cal was a top third goalie in the league.

The problem with making no move is that you're then working without a net. If Copley gets hurt on March 4, or during the playoffs, or if after the deadline he simply starts showing why he has not been able to get an NHL job before 30, you're going with the Quick/Petersen tandem which has so far shown no indication that they can do the job. A lot can happen between now and the trade deadline, but that would be a scary proposition.

Cal is 7-5 on the Reign with the worst GAA among the Reign’s goalies.

This is a little bit disingenuous.

Cal's stats are pretty much identical to Villalta's. Or Copley's. The only difference is the point in his career that he is at and the amount of money he is making.

Villalta 11GP, 24GA, 2.32GAA, 6-4-0, 1SO .918Sv%
Copley 11GP, 26GA, 2.48GAA, 6-4-1, 0SO .913Sv%
Petersen 12GP, 31GA, 2.58GAA, 7-5-0, 1SO .919Sv%

it's already a scary proposition. Most times, teams go out and grab a serviceable backup, hoping they dont really have to use them. In this case, you'd pretty much be looking for a starting goaltender. I forget who made the comment... Blake, maybe Coach, but somebody said something along the lines of "we need you if we're going to get where we want to get to", and i think that's a pretty accurate statement. It's going to be real difficult for this team to take a step if they wind up having to go find a 4th goaltender because Cal cant fix his game.

Cal is a supposed to be a NHL caliber goalie. This is the AHL

Well, Cal won tonite 7-3.

Turcotte played for the first time in a couple weeks and had a goal and assist.

Martin Chromiak is suddenly on fire with 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. Before then he had 0 goals and 3 assists all season..

It's not as much about cap hit, it's about giving the Copley-Cal-Villalta trio a try while JQ is down there trying to find his game and maybe, just maybe, being able to contribute in PO...

I think they're already making that move with Cal, I hate to say Blake is moving on from Quick but the fact that Cal is getting time down there and Quick is not getting that kind of attention lets you know how this is going to go. Villalta for whatever reason is probably going to be kept out of this conversation unless he goes beast mode and forces his way in.

Well, I think it's pretty damn obvious that Cal is their priority to "sort out". If he finds his game and gets called up, they can then send down JQ to AHL for a "conditioning stint" and have him in reserve in case goalie situation derails come playoffs.
