Punk...

So caught the Toy Dolls and the Adolescents on Thurs.

Man the Toy Dolls were great! Olga just flat out destroys on the guitar and the other lads were great too. They still look great, it seems that they never age. The crowd was great, lots of old punks with their kids and I did not see one fight all night. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show and have a grand time. It was cool to see so many punks in one place again, felt like old times.

Ran into several Kings fans (were any of them one of you?), we lamented the score and chatted a bit about our boys in black.

The Dolls have threatened to hang it up a couple times, I hope they don't any time soon and judging from the size and enthusiasm of the crowd I can't see why they would. But I guess that means I gotta hope they come back soon and see them again

From their just released final album...

Rev is still one of my favorite albums. I've seen them live a few times but none with Scott as the lead singer.

There's also rumors on the innernetz saying they are not going to announce which records are going to be played at which shows..

those rumors were correct which stinks. i get why they're doing that but i can't swing 4 nights in order to catch my favorites and if i had to pick only one or two dates, i'd hate life if i ended up choosing the night they decided to play this addiction or agony and irony. those albums are my least favorite... like, if i weren't a completist, i'd throw them in the garbage. it's ok... i'll still cherish the time i saw them play chain reaction and it was all s/t, maybe i'll catch fire, goddammit and from here to infirmary songs.

i have yet to see them play anything off the latest album though, which i actually enjoyed. oh well. maybe another time. *sigh*

much appreesh for the heads up. i actually missed all the info and pre-sale because i was still in a fog from the cup win and parade/rally. once i read over all the deetz, i didn't even bother with the public sale. i'm hoping for another kick ass tour with a bill like H2O and NFG in the future where i'm NOT on vacation. (although, did you hear about the guitarist from NFG?! ew...).

Ok...so not really "punk"...but still...

I did. That was strange and weird. But I guess they'll still truck along. driving along the coast to San Diego this weekend we had that "if you need a boyfriend, just for the summer" song on repeat. My wife liked it so who am I to complain. Still prefer older material don't know why overall they are still a guilty pleasure for me.

I missed that tour with H20 but would love to see those guys again sometime

oh ya, they're still a guilty pleasure for me, too. i haven't really heard any of their new stuff though (haven't gotten around to it), but i do have the ramones covers LP they released on RSD a year or 2 ago and it's surprisingly good.

that alk3, h2o, nfg tour would've been the perfect tour. :-/

the gaslight anthem and against me! are also touring with jimmy eat world on select dates. the combination of those 3 would be worth going to for me. unfortunately, the only local date is TGA and AM! and man... regardless of how the new gaslight album is, they are so boring live. i saw them open for alk3, thrice and i think rise against back in 2008 and they were Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... hard to justify how much that ticket might cost and shlep to hollywood for half an awesome show and half a boring show.

funny, I just got notice from bandsintown of Against Me playing with the Gaslight Anthem Sep 28th at the palladium. I assume that's the show you're talking about, without JEW ya? Can that show really fill up the palladium?

and man I have been listening to a lot of The Queers lately. I'm in vegas july 19th/20th, but I'm starting to debate more if I want to come back early and try to hit the Masked Intruder/Queers/Dwarves show at the roxy. I probably won't, but damn..

A friend of mine is trying to unload 2 tickets for Pennywise sunday july 20th at the house of blues sunset. He bought and can no longer go. Face value was $64 buying from ticketmaster for both - willing to take best offer at this point. These are paper tickets but I can put in the mail immediately to arrive in time.

If anyone interested - let me know.
