Punk...

I am a PBS fiend, well, because of course I am. And they've been showing a lot of LGBT related stuff on there all month which quickly reminded me it's LGBT Pride month. So in honor of that.... ;)

This is more New Wave than Punk, but still Pete Shelley is a Buzzcock. No innuendo in that name, I am sure. :flame:

my god.....memories...

The first one was the best. Refused to go to anymore because KROQ took over & ruined it.

Seaweed wasn't on the west coast tour. I wish they were. Loved them. Most of the revelation bands were on the 2nd stage. Sick of it all, civ, quicksand, no use for a name, orange 9mm, deftones. A lot of crap bands played too such as L7, no doubt, ziggins & sublime.

ha, some of my husband's favorite bands. he also liked seaweed. they were a touch before my time, but i got into quicksand and all things walter schreifels after the fact. he recently played a free show a couple blocks away from me at vinyl solution record store with his latest band, dead heavens. i had to pass though because i was really under the weather and needed some rest. :(
that warped tour was also before my time. i think my first one was 1999.

Ok so this sorta blew my mind: Dick Clark, American Bandstand and X. I somehow never knew that X played on AB. And I forgot just how cool X was/is.

Speaking of X, they're playing 4 shows at the Roxy in early December. No Billy Zoom though, as he's undergoing cancer treatment. If you haven't seen them live, I REALLY recommend them. They're fantastic.

They played for free on the lawn at Cal State Fullerton in 1983 (I think), and I couldn't believe it. It appeared that a lot of people had no idea who they were, but that made it easy for me to get up close. I saw them again a few years ago at The Crystal Palace in Bakersfield. John Doe was living here for awhile because his son or daughter was here, but he has since moved on. They were still cool as hell and we got to meet them when they signed autographs after the show. It was amazing.

Thanks to youtube, I am often surprised by the variety of acts on shows like American Bandstand, Soul Train, and The Midnight Special. Some of these eps are before my time. And what do we get now? Reality shows that are often made up of bad amateur singers so the audience can laugh at them? We live in some dark times. *cries*

That "Burning House of Love" is a really good song. I think I remember reading somewhere that Jon Doe wanted someone like Johnny Cash to cover it. That would've been epic. :D

I finally got around to watching A Band Called Death doc. It's pretty good. Death, as I mentioned here before, is a Black Proto Punk band from Detroit in the '70's. They sort of sound like MC5.

After seeing on the news how some scumbag took hostages in a restaurant last night and then how a sniper is on the loose in PHX I got thinking. Then I saw the news of other crappy thing things going on across the country. But what sealed it was watching "Fear of the Walking Dead". I recalled this old tune and realized that the lads in GBH were wise and knew what they were talking about..... Get Out Of the City!
