Punk...

just saw pennywise at the house of blues. took my 8 yr old daughter, too! she goes to school with the bassist’s daughter so he got us in and up in the vip section. very nice all around! i otherwise wouldn’t have brought her, the downstairs section was 80-90% dudes (bros) packed into a sold out venue with a giant circle pit in the center. someone got hurt during h2o’s set and they had to stop playing and made sure he got helped up and out before they resumed.

i’ll probably go see tim barry of avail next week and that’ll be it for me this year.

Just read the other day that pennywise is finishing up work on a new album and fletcher quoted as saying it harkens back to the full circle/straight ahead days. Will be curious to see how that goes.

I got me tickets to see MXPX/Goldfinger at the novo in a couple weeks. Total throwback to my teenage years and I?m vey excited as I still hold both dearly :)

I also am always holding hope that one day Tim Barry will grab beau beau and get avail back together for some shows!

haha, ya vip is so unpunk. i was talking to the bassist of PW and he was saying they don't really claim any punk street cred anyway. he laughed and said they were on myspace records once. lol. he's a nice guy and the music is still catchy so i don't have a problem supporting them. didn't know they were working on a new album. it's been a while since the last so that'll be interesting for sure!

i saw mxpx a few years ago. i still make references to going the way of the buffalo and chick magnet is my jam! i'm nostalgic for goldfinger, too, and john feldman has made a name for himself as a pretty good producer. have fun!

ya, and considering mike herrera is a member of goldfinger nowadays he's going to get a good workout!

I also just got tickets to see Mustard Plug/Buck O Nine at the viper room in January, because Mustard Plug. My ska-punk phase is making a serious resurgence. Two passes from the wife make me a happy guy.

If I wasn't going to mxpx/goldfinger the same night I might consider making the trek down south for this. Good venue size wise. I try and see Ignite whenever I can on their sporadic dates in socal. Sorry to miss this one but enjoy, and scream for me....."education, without action, DOES NOTHINGGGGG" (they rarely play that)
 
I don't go to many concerts anymore (usually around 5 a year) but I actually went to Brick by Brick for the first time earlier this year (Good Riddance w/Western Addiction). Really pleasantly surprised with the venue.
 
i love ignite. saw them at the memorial for jon bunch of sense field a few years ago and they had all 3 singers perform with the band. my kid was at that one, too, haha...

Fun. Uh, both Rancid songs would make beer taste better but 'what do I get' would be my first choice.
 
Motorhead isn't punk but Ace of Spades is one of the best songs ever. Personally I'd go with Cherry Bomb. And for the non punk tri-fecta Bad Reputation is also a solid choice.

Punk rock karaoke is the last show I went to I think. At least 10 years ago. Sad.
 
Good time but man after 2 acts they didn’t start until 11:30. I am oooold.

Pretty sure Matt pinfield (or an exact replica) was there.
Got a go kings go and high five with Darren pfeiffer, and a quick hello to Greg Hetson. Too chicken **** to sing with the live band of legends but good time watching a few brave souls before I about crashed. Good time if they ever roll through again
