I just realized that both albums from Metallica (Ride and Kill em) could be Punk without Hetfields yapper. Great baselines.
slayer too... listen to the album "undisputed attitude" all punk covers...

Great Album. One of my top 10s. I was looking at rawness of music versus a carte blance cover album. The Basslines and percussion of both Ride and Kill 'em are Punk but just cleaner and more refined. If Hetfield went more closed throat and barked lyrics, it'd been punk . "Motorbreath" for one is sooo punk its a travesty that Phaneuf from IR isn't on vox.slayer too... listen to the album "undisputed attitude" all punk covers...

I don't see how we've covered as much as we have in this thread and The Clash hasn't gotten a post.
I got to meet Joe Strummer a few years before he passed away. He acted like an old friend and reminded me of a friend I had years ago that lived in an anarcho-syndicalist house way out in the canyons of Orange County. Very cerebral and freindly, with a hint of something threatening that you couldn't quite put your finger on. Nothing creepy, just...a 'don't eff with the nice guy' kinda thing.
