Punk...

slayer too... listen to the album "undisputed attitude" all punk covers...
Great Album. One of my top 10s. I was looking at rawness of music versus a carte blance cover album. The Basslines and percussion of both Ride and Kill 'em are Punk but just cleaner and more refined. If Hetfield went more closed throat and barked lyrics, it'd been punk . "Motorbreath" for one is sooo punk its a travesty that Phaneuf from IR isn't on vox.

This was my theme last night.

I was a dolphin, I was a drunkard,
I was so strung out, I lived on the strand.
I was so wasted.

kill em all sounds a lot to me like the misfits earth a.d. but with a little motorhead on it

I know, right? Don't know why I would use past tense, I guess I was thinking about shows I saw years ago.

I am taking the time to crawl through this thread from the OP right now.

I don't see how we've covered as much as we have in this thread and The Clash hasn't gotten a post.

I got to meet Joe Strummer a few years before he passed away. He acted like an old friend and reminded me of a friend I had years ago that lived in an anarcho-syndicalist house way out in the canyons of Orange County. Very cerebral and freindly, with a hint of something threatening that you couldn't quite put your finger on. Nothing creepy, just...a 'don't eff with the nice guy' kinda thing.

never loved a shovel, break your back to earn your pay, and don't forget to grovel

yo te quiero infinito, yo te acuerda oh mi coraz?n

A few others I thought would have gotten a post or two by now:

Squares, longhairs, troopers, guitars, it's our way of expression, strychnine space race to the stars

don't be afraid, it's not too late, to save yourself

He wants to be Lief Ericksson - to discover America - but he's not

Sirius XM 41 is mixing in A LOT of OG Punk this Memorial Day weekend...FYI. Just played Aggression: Locals Only.

i didn't post videos since i'm usually way too tired before i come on here, but i'm pretty sure i mentioned the clash as joe strummer is one of my favorite musicians of all time. i'm jealous you got to meet him. i still remember the shock and disappointment upon hearing the news of his passing.

these are some of my favorite strummer related tunes:

i also saved a photo spread he'd done with GQ magazine in july 2002, shortly before he died. foxy guy for being nearly 50.

A number of recent international and domestic events have spurred an influx of crowd sourced and student organized gonzo journalism videos, that I would love to post in a thread titled "Punk". Though I'm sure that would easily cross the line from a music discussion, to politics.

Toeing that line, though it's an HBO documentary, can't wait to see

Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer

Monday 6/10 @ 9:00 on HBO
