I don?t know. Even with the injuries, the Hawks were just better in 2013. They were on fire and hungry the whole year. And there?s no guarantee the Kings would have the drive to do what they did in 2014 if they won the year before.

The Blackhawks were a great team and they certainly had the Kings number but that 2013 Kings team was elite 5 on 5. They were just missing a scoring winger. Not sure if you recall but there were rumors Lombardi was trying to acquire Gaborik before the 2013 deadline, a move he would make the following year.

What I remember about that Hawks team was reading stories during the lock out that they were possessed as a unit and skating unofficial, voluntary practices away from NHL affiliation. And how they came out on fire when the league resumed.

And now that someone has reminded me about Willie Mitchell being injured, I remember someone (maybe Quick?) posting social media videos in 2014 of WM skating by himself in an empty rink trying to get back in game shape.

In fact, I actively root for any team playing against Perry. I haven't gone as far as hoping he gets injured...but it wouldn't break my heart if a slap shot knocked him out cold.

This. Remember the first game of the season (in January) when the Kings raised their banner? The Blackhawks promptly blew them out on national TV, and the Kings were pretty much healthy then. All the regrets Kings fans have about 2013? Well, Blackhawks fans probably have the same about 2014, and it could be said that the 2014 Hawks were one shot away from a 3-peat themselves.

Another thing people forget is that Rob Scuderi clearly lost a step after the lockout. Additionally, Jake Muzzin saw a huge improvement in his play in 2014 compared to his rookie season. Also, Toffoli and Pearson.

Toffoli established himself as a full time NHLer in that 2013 series vs. the Blackhawks 4 goals in 5 games after scoring 2 goals in the Sharks series. Voynov's 2013 playoffs was maybe the best stretch of games he ever played at the NHL level. His offense in particular was great. He ended up with 4 GWG in that run.

The point is, people are suggesting that had it not been for injuries, the players would have all performed great and won another cup. Truth is, there were a lot of players who regressed in 2013 and others who gained experience. If they played like they did in 2012, I think they beat Chicago. But no team in history has ever played like the 2012 Kings, including the 2013 Kings.

Wow.. Watching the Avs dismantle the Lightning in game 2 gave me bad juju flashbacks to their domination of the Kings when they put up 9 that one game.

I'd be happy to see him win one. He was with the Kings for most of their rebuild, and then was traded right before they won the Cup in 2012 (though you could argue convincingly that they won the Cup because of that trade, not so much because they lost JJ, but because they gained Carter). Then, after the terrible situation with his parents. Yes, he definitely deserves a Cup.
 
Well, that looked a little more like the series all the hype was expecting. Tampa pretty much willed themselves back into the series.

Also, did Nyssa notice who joined the post game panel for NHL Tonight?
 
I just saw Jon Cooper question the winning goal. He did not say what it was that he was referring to. I have NO IDEA what it was....curious....
