Woof!
G’s drop first leg. 1-0. Could have been worse.

J Mac looked SOLID in goal.

Still can’t string multiple passes together on the attack.
Still having a hard time with link up play.

Who knew our new striker was the invisible man?

Pec smothered….again.

Aude on wing was interesting.
Fagundez off the bench was better than starter Fagundez, but he has got to be better for his salary.

Garces the great!

Saw some brilliance from Reus, but then I was reminded the level of team the G’s were playing.

Ventura County kids are all right…did the best they could.

Wynder had a stinker of a game coming off the bench. Give away and turn over machine.
Such a defensive liability.

Well, G’s are gonna get smoked by St Louis on Sunday. So there’s that to look forward to.

March will be rough.

At this rate, Pec is going to try and do so much himself he's going to get himself hurt.

Last year's team would've handled that game. But you're prediction on March might be right...

Thankfully I was unable watch the St. Louis match.

0-3 loss at home…..can’t say I’m surprised.

Heard we got scored on from a set piece again….just like old times. I remember a time when the coach said he’s was going to fix the set piece goals…..they’re baaaack!

I completely understand new roster, and massive injuries, but 0-3 loss at home to a team that hasn’t scored all season?!?!

G’s can’t be coached to a draw at home?

Why is the defense still leaking 3 goals at home?!

Ugh…. Maybe it’s a blessing the G’s get bounced from CCC this week.

Show us some hope!
Brutal!

Ha I chose wrestling over galaxy and I chose well. I don't even want to watch highlights. I got a text saying "watch Reus not move on a corner and get scored on".

I don't know if this is true, but I saw some claims that the Galaxy are still paying Chase Gasper $400k a year and Kevin Cabral $1million a year. Supposed to end this year but Galaxy have been paying them since they left the club and still counts against the cap.

If true, yikes.

Correct about Kabral. G's paying for 50% of his salary for 3 years. Ends in 2025.
He was bought for $6mill....add that to the equation.....and the G's got only $1 mill. GAM from Colorado in the trade. WOOF!

Regarding Gaspar, that just nuts if true. Dude was washed up BEFORE we got him, and continued to play poorly. Heard he had "substance" issues. Sad if true.

4 goals in CCCCC ?!?!?!? Nice job, G's!
Not to be a downer, but I think Tigres will hand the G's their walking papers in the next round.

However, really nice to see a win! Some fluidity in the midfield to connect to the front 3.

Not many if at all had a poor match on this one.
Outsanding: Miller, Parente, Lepley
Good: Pec, Aude, JMac, Berry, Cerrillo, Zanka, Yoshida
Average: Fagundez

Subs were decent, save one: Wynder.

The Ventura County kids are really bright spots.
If these kids can get more match time, we "may" have a decent bench to sub in for the rest of the season.

Thought: Is Reus as a starter a "cement block" that slows down the midfield flow in terms of speed?
They seemed very quick and fluid thru-out this match without Reus.
If we have the luxury, Reus should come off the bench against tired teams going forward.

Fagundez seems "off" so far this season. He is getting starter minutes, and is playing with little urgency, and lacks most things clinical.

Wynder who looked good at Coachella, now needs some serious work before he gets anymore minutes IMHO.

Off to MLS play on the carpet in Portland.
TBH, I'd be happy with a draw on the road.

A point on the road. I’ll take it. Especially on the Portland carpet.

Garces was reckless on the late tackle, and completely studs up. Clearly a penalty.
Stupid ref gives “advantage “instead of a penalty and call to the spot!?!? What a 🤡.

….but the math goes like this
One boneheaded Garces
+
One boneheaded ref
= one point for the G’s on the road!

G’s improved with each match over the last 3.
Yamane and Naciamento are back.
Slowly getting the injured back into the lineup.
Slowly digging out of the early season hole.

For once getting Concacaf'd worked in a positive way? :)

I thought the youthful midfield looked energetic and ready to compete in the first half. A bit of fallback in the 2nd but still, progress.

Watching Neville lose his mind can be fun.

Draw on the road again.
At this point, I’ll take it.

Games was not the most tactical by both sides. A bit sloppy.

Jmac made an error and let one in, then redeemed himself with a series of saves that Micovic would not have been able to do.
Jmac deserves to be #1 for a while at least.

Garces may have got himself out of the dog house with the equalizer goal.

Bad luck for our captain on the hand ball call.

Nice to see Christian on a scoring streak.

Wynder was “better “ but I’d rather see Parente in there to start.

Yamane back is fantastic.

Zanka should continue to start.

Need to see more from Fagundez.
Paintsil can’t come back quick enough.

Onward!

Canada rolls over USMNT.

Sloppy play by the US.
Horrible, almost comical defending.
I know the team is missing a couple of big time full backs, but they have looked really poor in the past two matches.

Maybe the US is cursed.
Hockey team loses to Canada
USMNT loses to Canada AND Panama.
Thankfully the US does not play Greenland.

So basically the Gold Cup is really the only "official" tuneups for the world cup outside of friendlies, no? Poch looked defeated.

Yea, pretty much. I looked like Poch too.

Both matches looked like: Stand around and hope the other country does not score.

Where was the fight for the crest!?!?!?
USMNT looks soft, and entitled. As if they don't have to fight to earn a decision.

Let's be honest, it's CONCACAF competition.
USMNT would be steamrolled playing CONMEBOL, EURO...et al.
...and yet they are getting rolled by CONCACAF nations.

Where's the fight like when Donovan was on the squad?
No urgency in the squad.

USMNT last "best" match against significant competition (IMHO) was the draw against England at the World Cup. Since then they have not gotten better. Seem to be coasting.

All these guys feel like their cap to the US for every friendly and tournament is a guarantee.

Poch has got to do something....and FAST!
I dunno if he has time.

Right now it looks like group stage, and go home for the World Cup.

....boy has Canada improved.

Correct, and some of the higher class friendlies had to be replaced as we lost our opponents. It's always tough as the host to get games with high intensity.

The gold cup is going to be missing quite a few players as well due to club commitments.

Also, I feel like I should change my name to "ucsbguy" :)
